  • Patent number: 4069738
Abstract: The invention is concerned with a retainer for holding a sheet of insulation against a metal plate and with the method of seating a sheet of insulation against a metallic plate. The retainer comprises a linearly extending member made of a hard but deformable material and having a flange extending outwardly adjacent a first end thereof to sit against a first side of a metal plate with the remainder of the member extending through a hole in the plate and a bore extending longitudinally in the member from the first end thereof towards a second end thereof, the bore terminating at a chamber of larger orthogonal dimension than the bore itself, the chamber terminating short of the second end of the member. Also part of the retainer is a rod fitting within and extending outwardly from the bore and having at a first end thereof a head of larger orthogonal dimension than the bore, the head fitting within the chamber. Generally the rod includes a weak portion which is easily breakable.

  • Patent number: 4053172
Abstract: A construction vehicle, such as a motor grader, is provided with at least one step assembly to facilitate access to the operator's station thereof. The step assembly comprises a mounting bracket secured to a frame of the vehicle and a support bracket pivotally mounted on the mounting bracket. A spring-loaded and releasable detent is provided between the mounting and support brackets for permitting swinging movements of the support bracket and a first step attached on a lower end thereof, relative to the mounting bracket. The support bracket preferably comprises a first member pivotally mounted on the mounting bracket, a second member pivotally mounted on a lower end of the first member for swinging movements perpendicular to the swinging movements of the first member relative to the mounting bracket. The first step is secured on a lower end of the second member whereas a second step is preferably attached to the second member and disposed vertically thereabove.

  • Patent number: 3960238
Abstract: An engine enclosure is disclosed having improved sound attenuating capabilities. The enclosure includes side panels, a front and rear and top and bottom thereof which define the engine area. Doors in the side panels permit access to the engine compartment for service thereof. Sound attenuating material is fastened to the inside surfaces of the side panels, doors and rear fire wall members. Acoustic baffles cooperate with the attenuating material to attenuate noise emanating from the engine compartment. Openings in the members permit flow of air into the engine compartment to satisfy engine cooling requirements. Sealing means cooperating between adjoining members provide for further sound attenuation.
