  • Patent number: 11929088
Abstract: Systems and methods provide input and output mode control for audio processing on a user device. Audio processing may be configured by monitoring audio activity on a device having at least one microphone and a digital audio processing unit, collecting information from the monitoring of the activity, including an identification of at least one application utilizing audio processing, and determining a context for the audio processing, the context including at least one of a hardware, software, audio signal and/or environmental context. An audio signal processing configuration is determined based on the application and determined context, an associated audio signal processing mode is selected, and an optimized audio signal generated.

Audio processing may be configured by monitoring audio activity on a device having at least one microphone and a digital audio processing unit, collecting information from the monitoring of the activity, including an identification of at least one application utilizing audio processing, and determining a context for the audio processing, the context including at least one context resource having associated metadata. An audio configuration is determined based on the application and determined context, and an action is performed to control the audio processing mode. User controls providing addition mode control may be displayed automatically based on a current application and determined context.

  • Publication number: 20160041782
Abstract: Creating a cloned version of a system storage device that contains less capacity than the used space of the original system storage device and the means to prevent the user from making the cloned disk unbootable. A software program can run on a computer and a backup device such as a disk drive, thumb drive, or solid state drive. The software program sizes the minimum storage capacity needed and the user is allowed to select, through an interface, folders and files to not be copied. The software program will not allow the user to select any folders or files which would render the clone unbootable, including not allowing the user to select any folders or files contained in the windows® directory.

  • Patent number: 8762699
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus, system, and method for allowing a user to boot to an alternate operating system by pressing a single button on an externally attached storage device with a push button. The invention helps a user recover operational use of his computer system when the internal system drive suffers a software application or operating system failure. The invention consists of an attached storage device with a push button and supporting electronics capable of formatting and transmitting a recognizable data packet to the host computer and an application program in the host computer that can receive the data packet, process boot files, and force a reboot of the operating system with the attached storage device as the boot device.

  • Patent number: 8566288
Abstract: The present invention is a system to automatically remove sets of pre specified files or divert sets of pre specified files from the files that would normally be sent to a storage device during a backup or cloning operation. The invention is used to allow a backup of a storage device onto a smaller capacity storage device or for creating sets of backups each of which may contain different sets of files from the source storage device. The invention consists of sets of lists which drive the backup engine and provide the intelligence for determining which files are backed up, diverted to another storage device, or not transferred.

  • Patent number: 8560501
Abstract: System and method for automatically discarding sets of pre specified files or divert sets of pre specified files from the files that would normally be sent to a storage device during a backup or cloning operation as the backup device becomes full. The embodiments are used to allow a backup of a storage device onto a smaller capacity storage device with as many files as possible. The embodiments uses one or more lists of files to discard which are used to filter files as the target drive become full.

  • Patent number: 8452949
Abstract: Booting an operating system from an externally attached storage device without forcing the user to change the boot order in the BIOS of a personal computer. The computer is booted from either an internal or external drive with removable media. A program that is resident on the removable media scans the computer system for any attached storage device with a bootable operating system. The user is shown a list of partitions on all attached devices with bootable operating systems and a user is prompted to pick one of the operating systems to boot. The software program then loads the boot loader from the master boot record of the selected partition and transfers control of the microprocessor to the boot loader allowing it to complete the boot sequence.

  • Patent number: 8407460
Abstract: Software program or application can determine if the storage device it was launched from is connected to the host computer system on an internal bus or an external bus. The ability of a software application to determine from where it and the operating system was launched allows it to perform a plurality of actions based on the launch location such as limiting the functionality of an application depending on its launch location. If a software company does not want its software to be installed or executed from an external drive or executed on multiple computers then it can limit the users ability to moved the software from one computer to another on a portable drive connected through a USB or IEEE-1394 port.

  • Patent number: 8230209
Abstract: Automatically presenting the user, at boot time, the option of booting from a default device or from any of a plurality of storage devices that contain bootable partitions. This overcomes current methodologies that are not automated, needs manually intervention, and requires a degree of sophistication that the user, most probably does not have. This is very simple for the user to use and automatically presents a current and up date list of bootable partitions.
