  • Publication number: 20230264017
Abstract: Disclosed are various configurations of electrodes with accompanying extensions and wires configured to be attached at or near the left atrium of a heart to allow the device to be held snug against the endocardium and out of the blood flow for low energy defibrillation of the atria in response to atrial fibrillation or other atrial arrhythmias. The portion of the lead internal to the atrium (e.g., the left atrium) is restrained against the endocardium of the left atrium by way of a restraint mechanism. In one example, the electrode is configured to attach to the atrial septum, with wires containing memory-shaped metal to keep the wires against the heart wall. In yet another example, the electrode is configured to be part of a mitral valve device.

  • Patent number: 6121965
Abstract: A user interface for a graphical application tool is disclosed. A graphical application tool is a software program, such as a computer-aided design (CAD) tool, a spreadsheet package, or a graphics drawing package, that graphically provides a user with a set of commands, tools and icons, which a user can graphically manipulate to generate, modify or analyze a work product in a work space area. The graphical application tool includes a graphical user interface (GUI) to provide users with a repositionable menu of available commands, tools and icons. The menu provides access to the commands, tools and device offerings without interfering with the user's work space area. In the illustrative computer-aided design (CAD) tool embodiment, the menu preferably provides a user with access to core and custom commands and circuit component offerings.

  • Patent number: 6066144
Abstract: A method for using a surgical device for joining two blood vessels and creating a passageway therebetween is provided. The surgical device has an implement on the distal end which includes a first member and a second member. The first member is inserted into a first opening of a first blood vessel, such as a graft vessel. The second member is inserted into a second opening of a second blood vessel, such as the coronary artery. The surgical device is activated to draw together the first and second members, bringing together the first and second blood vessels. A work portion of the surgical device is actuated to perform a function, which comprises joining the blood vessels together with at least two joining lines and creating a longitudinal cut between the joining lines. The first and second members of the surgical device are then removed, and the first and second openings are closed.

  • Patent number: 6013027
Abstract: A method is described for stabilizing moving tissue within the body. The method comprises creating a first opening for primary surgical access into the body, and a second opening spaced apart from the first opening in the body. An elongated stem having a proximal end and a distal end is inserted into the second opening. A foot having an upper and a lower surface is inserted into the first opening. The lower surface of the foot is engaged with the moving tissue within the body. The distal end of the stem is releaseably attached to the foot. The proximal end of the stem may be held so as to stabilize the moving tissue within the body.
