Publication number: 20240087043Abstract: Systems and methods provide for an automated system for determining whether claims related to an insured item should proceed to an arbitrating body. A virtual assistant (also referred to herein as an “arbitration assessment assistant”) installed in a computing device (e.g., computer, laptop, tablet computer, mobile phone, etc.) may be responsible for managing and assisting an insurance representative (e.g., an insurance adjuster, subrogation representative, etc.) in determining liability and fault relating to a claim, conducting a subrogation process, and ultimately determining whether the claim should be submitted for arbitration. In one or more aspects discussed, herein the process may be fully automated.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 20, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Applicant: Allstate Insurance CompanyInventors: Randall Martin Hanson, Raj Albert Upadhyaya, Srinivas Reddy Gangaram, Erika Ann Wales

Publication number: 20230073115Abstract: Systems and computer-implemented methods for estimating a cost to repair a damaged item are provided. In some example implementations, an indication identifying a portion of the damaged item is received. A series of images are selected that depict increasing degrees of damage to a reference item at the portion identified, and the series of images are provided for presentation. An indication is received that identifies one of the images in the series of images that has been selected as best representing the damage to the portion of the damaged item identified. An estimated cost to repair the damaged item is generated based, at least in part, on the image selected.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 5, 2014Publication date: March 9, 2023Inventors: Randall Martin Hanson, Joy Thomas, Eric Huls, Floyd Yager

Publication number: 20230070094Abstract: Systems and methods for processing insurance claims are provided. A notice of loss associated with a damaged item and damage information describing the damage may be received. Repair cost data may be retrieved based on the damage information received. A repair cost model may be configured based on the damage information and the repair cost data and used to generate a repair cost for repairing the damaged item. A non-negotiable payment amount may be selected based on the repair cost generated and included in a work order along with the damage information. The work order may be transmitted to a repair service provider that accepted the terms of the work order. Feedback may be received from the repair service provider that indicates an actual cost to repair the damaged item, and the repair cost data may be updated based on the feedback received.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 5, 2014Publication date: March 9, 2023Inventors: Randall Martin Hanson, Joy Thomas, Eric Huls, Floyd Yager

Patent number: 11263700Abstract: Aspects of the invention are directed to methods and systems for efficiently communicating data between an insurer and a non-referral repair shop, e.g., vehicle repair shops that are normally not preapproved by the insurer to perform the estimating and repair work. The methods and systems described herein are particularly useful for insurers utilizing non-referral repair shops for servicing vehicles involved in insurance claims. According to aspects of this invention, the insured may be able to select a non-referral repair shop, not delegated or preapproved by the insurer, thereby generally allowing the insured to select any available vehicle repair shop.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2020Date of Patent: March 1, 2022Assignee: ALLSTATE INSURANCE COMPANYInventors: Randall Martin Hanson, James A. Ledder, Charles Ronald O'halloran

Patent number: 11164261Abstract: Aspects of the invention include methods and systems for a vehicle insurance claim management application which improves communication and streamline tasks between a vehicle repair shop and an insurance company system in three general task groups: assignment (comprising work requests, estimates/photos, and reinspections), financial management, and performance measurement. Aspects of the invention also provide interoperability with different types of estimating systems that do not necessarily follow an industry standard. This interoperability is provided through an adapter module with a claim processing system to communicate with the insurance company system and the vehicle insurance claim management application. The invention is preferably accessed by a user over a computer network such as the Internet, from a remote location such as a vehicle repair shop.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2019Date of Patent: November 2, 2021Assignee: ALLSTATE INSURANCE COMPANYInventors: Randall Martin Hanson, Raj Albert Upadhyaya, Srinivas Reddy Gangaram, Erika Ann Wales

Publication number: 20150324924Abstract: An enhanced claims settlement apparatus may process insurance claims rapidly and accurately. The apparatus may first receive a notification of loss associated with an insured item (e.g., car, boat, truck, home, etc.). The apparatus may then apply various algorithms for using sensors to identify, analyze, and estimate the cost of damage associated with the insured item. The sensors that are a part of the enhanced claims settlement server may include cameras, tactile sensors, electromagnetic sensors, etc. that may communicate data to a processor associated with the server. Once the data has been generated and analyzed by the sensors, a claim settlement file may be transmitted to a claimant.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 21, 2014Publication date: November 12, 2015Inventors: Thomas Joseph Wilson, Stephen Lawrence Ihm, Randall Martin Hanson
