For instance, illumination by a backlight presents the product information in the first orientation by interacting with the first display material, and suspension of illumination by the backlight presents the product information in the second orientation by allowing reflective light to interact with the second display material. Selection of illumination is automatically or manually accomplished.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for ensuring consistency of color and cosmetic appearance of injection molded parts used in the fabrication of enclosures for information handling systems. A sample of polymer material having a texture and color in accordance with a predetermined specification is inspected by a spectrophotometer and the results of the measurements are stored in a cosmetic feature database of a manufacturing system. A plurality of enclosures for the information handling systems are then manufactured using information stored in the cosmetic feature database. Each of the enclosures has a molded feature that can be used to verify surface finish quality and color consistency of the injection molded parts used to fabricate the enclosure. In a production run for fabricating a plurality of enclosures, one of the enclosures can be removed from the production line and a molded feature can be inspected to determine whether the molded parts comply with predetermined standards for color and surface finish.

Abstract: The present invention provides, for use in a chassis configured to alternatively house first or second planar boards hating different thicknesses and daughter board side surfaces, a universal planar mount for supporting the planar board within the chassis. The universal planar may consist of a planar support coupled to a wall of the chassis that has first and second shoulders, preferably more than two, associated therewith that may be stair-stepped with respect to each other. The planar support may consist of a plurality of planar supports. In another aspect, the shoulders are formed in opposite side edges of the support walls. The first shoulder is engagable with the first planar board to mount the daughter board side surface of the first planar board a predetermined distance from the wall.
