  • Publication number: 20240115850
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for controlling operation of a mechanical circulatory support (MCS) device to facilitate recovery of native heart function in a patient within which the MCS device is implanted are provided. The method includes controlling a pump of the MCS device to operate in first mode, obtaining one or more first cardiac values associated with the patient during operation of the MCS device, determining, based at least in part, on the obtained one or more first cardiac values to transition operation of the MCS device to a second mode, and controlling the pump of the MCS device to operate in the second mode when it is determined to transition operation of the MCS device to the second mode.

  • Publication number: 20240108876
Abstract: Systems and methods for improving kidney function. A first mechanical circulatory support system (MCS) is introduced in a patient's heart, and a second mechanical circulatory support system is introduced in a patient's inferior vena cava or renal vein. The second mechanical circulatory support system is operated while the first mechanical circulatory support system is operating. A renal parameter is monitored during. Combined operation of the two mechanical circulatory support systems results in a change in renal parameter, e.g. pressure drop in the renal vein, indicating an improvement in kidney function. Once the renal parameter is determined to be below a target threshold, operation of the second mechanical circulatory support device is stopped.

  • Publication number: 20240038397
Abstract: Methods and systems for predicting whether a patient is likely to develop post-cardiotomy cardiogenic shock (PCCS) are described. The method includes receiving medical information for a patient, extracting one or more features from the received medical information, providing the one or more features as input to a trained classification model configured to output a risk assessment that the patient is likely to develop PCCS, and outputting an indication of the risk assessment.
