  • Patent number: 5979513
Abstract: A fluid spillage control apparatus is connected to a fluid tank which has a fill opening and a ventilation opening. The fluid spillage control apparatus comprises a fluid holding chamber having a vent opening for venting vapor therefrom. The fluid holding chamber also has a conduit communicating with a fluid tank ventilation opening for passage of excess fluid from the fluid tank into the fluid holding chamber. The conduit is aparallel with the longitudinal axis of the fluid holding chamber so that the fluid holding chamber can be oriented in both a first position wherein the fluid holding chamber longitudinal axis is oriented vertically and a second position wherein the fluid holding chamber longitudinal axis is oriented horizontally. In addition, an auditory signal device communicates with the vent opening and produces an auditory signal upon passage of vented vapor from the fluid holding chamber.

  • Patent number: 5515889
Abstract: An opening in a vent pipe, or another secondary opening, of a liquid tank that is connected by a line to an opening in a liquid fill nozzle. Liquid in the liquid tank of a predetermined amount passes from the vent pipe through the line and into the liquid fill nozzle to actuate the liquid sensor of the automatic liquid shut-off mechanism of the nozzle in order to terminate liquid flow from the nozzle into the liquid tank.

  • Patent number: 5323820
Abstract: A liquid spillage control apparatus is disclosed having a liquid holding chamber divided by a partition into a liquid transfer portion and a liquid retaining portion. A liquid spill transfer pipe connects the fuel holding chamber with a liquid tank. Overflow liquid passe through the liquid spill transfer pipe and the liquid transfer portion, over the partition and into the liquid retaining portion of the liquid holding chamber. An opening in the liquid holding chamber is connected by a line to an opening in a liquid fill nozzle. Liquid in the liquid holding chamber of a predetermined amount passes from the liquid holding chamber, through the line, and into the liquid fill nozzle to actuate the liquid sensor of the automatic liquid shut-off mechanism of the nozzle in order to terminate liquid flow from the nozzle into the liquid tank.

  • Patent number: 5186222
Abstract: A liquid spillage control apparatus contains liquid from overfilling of a liquid tank and allows venting of volatile vapors. A liquid spill transfer pipe allows passage of liquid overflow into the liquid holding chamber. A liquid drain pipe communicates with the liquid spill transfer pipe in the liquid holding chamber and drains liquid of a predetermined level or greater out of the liquid holding chamber through the liquid spill transfer pipe. A liquid-buoyant drain pipe sealing means closes the liquid drain pipe when the liquid level in the liquid drain pipe reaches the liquid drain pipe inlet. An orifice in the bottom of the liquid holding chamber allows draining of liquids and solids heavier than the liquid from the liquid holding chamber.
