    Abstract: A strip shingle is manufactured with a perforation along a lengthwise centerline. The traditional headlap and buttlap areas are substantially identical to one another, each having a line of adhesive material near the shingle edge whereby breaking the shingle along the perforated center line yields two starter shingles which can be used with any type of roofing shingle.
