Abstract: According to the disclosure, a unique and novel archiving system that provides one or more application layer partitions to archive data is disclosed. Embodiments include an archiving system having removable hard disk drives embedded in removable disk cartridges, referred to simply as removable disk drives. In embodiments, the removable disk drives are electrically connected to one or more drive ports that are separately addressable. The archiving system can create application layer partitions that associate the application layer partitions with one or more drive ports. Each application layer partition, in embodiments, has a separate set of controls that allow for customized storage of different data within a single archiving system.

Abstract: According to the disclosure, a unique and novel archiving system that provides one or more application layer partitions to archive data is disclosed. The active archive can create application layer partitions that associate the application layer partitions with portions of the fixed storage. Each application layer partition, in embodiments, has a separate set of controls that allow for customized storage of different data within a single archiving system. Further, embodiments of methods for ensuring storage capacity in the active archive and the application layer partitions within the active archive is also disclosed.

A search macro is generated by utilizing this information. A user input defining a search query is received, and the search macro is utilized to further define the search query.

Abstract: A system and method for performing geographic based document searching. A grid of location tiles is constructed corresponding to a desired geographic area. A location tag is assigned to each location tile. Documents are searched to identify a geographic location. The documents are associated with one or more location tags based on the location tiles corresponding to the identified geographic location. The geographic location of a search query is also identified. The search query is modified to include one or more location tags corresponding to the location of the search query. The search query is then matched to documents associated with location tags contained in the search query.
