Abstract: Systems, methods, and media for providing an electronic messaging system in a retail environment are provided. An electronic message board is created in association with a retailer. The electronic message board is accessible in the retail environment and includes a host advertisement. The host advertisement is determined in association with the retailer from a host advertisement database that includes advertisements of indirect advertisers obtained by the host server. The retailer is provided with retailer access controls which enable the retailer to access and control a content of the electronic message board. The retailer access controls further enable the retailer to provide advertiser access controls to a direct advertiser obtained by the retailer. The advertiser access controls enable the direct advertiser to also access and control the content of the electronic message board, and are different than the retailer access controls.

The terminal is configured to receive the card number from the merchant processor and to provide a receipt to the user including the card number. The terminal receives the request for the virtual debit card without receiving any personal identity information from the user and provides the receipt to the user without the card number being associated with the user.

The host processor is disposed at a service provider site remote from the trustee site and adapted to communicate with the kiosk. The host processor receives the batch payment information from the kiosk.

Abstract: A method of pre-staging a financial transaction includes sending payment information entered using a device at a user location, via an electronic communication channel, for pre-staging the financial transaction. The method includes receiving a pre-staged transaction receipt corresponding to the financial transaction from an intermediary entity implemented on at least one processor. The method also includes manually tendering a payment amount, the payment amount corresponding to the payment information and the pre-staged transaction receipt, at a retail location. The method also includes paying a payee the payment amount, the payee being specified in the payment information, based on matching a transaction request from the retail location with the pre-staged financial transaction.

Abstract: A system and method refund a current value of an event ticket to a user. The ticket is purchased from a ticket issuer and out of a pool of tickets. Information associated with the event ticket is obtained from a physical event ticket provided by a user to a kiosk. Ticket information is provided to at least one of: the ticket issuer, an event coordinator, venue owner, a third party or to the Internet via a query. In response, these sources return information associated with the event for which the event ticket was purchased. Subsequently, the kiosk calculates a current value for the event ticket based on at least one of the ticket information and event information. The current value is refunded to the user of the kiosk and the ticket issuer returns the ticket to the pool of available tickets.

The payment information is then transmitted to the host processor. Once complete, the host processor transmits funds to the appropriate creditor.
