  • Patent number: 7935887
Abstract: An electrical device outlet cover for use in covering an opening in an outlet box or an opening in an outlet box drywall ring. It includes a front plate having a cut line formed through a first, telescopable portion of the front plate, the cut line allowing the first, telescopable portion of the front plate to be telescoped outwardly from a second, stationary portion of the front plate. Also provided is a cutting guide with a wall that extends generally perpendicularly upwardly from the front plate and follows a path that generally corresponds to a shape of an outlet box or a drywall ring to which the device outlet cover is to be attached. The invention also provides a method for protecting an electrical device in an electrical device outlet during installation of sheet material and providing for accruing cutting of an opening in the sheet material.

  • Publication number: 20070249236
Abstract: A system for ensuring electrical continuity in connections between a pre-wired conduit and a pre-wired harness. The pre-wired conduit has at least two conduit wires electrically connected to a plug connector having a plug body with a plurality of prongs greater in number than two, with each prong having a tunnel. Metallic contacts connected to the conduit wires are located in the tunnels of less than the total number of prongs. The pre-wired harness has a plurality of harness wires equal to or greater than the number of conduit wires, and the harness wires connect to plugs located in recesses in the socket body of a socket connector. The recesses number the same as the prongs and the recesses have a number of jacks equal to or greater than the number of conduit wires. Blocking caps are inserted into the tunnels of prongs that are unoccupied by metallic contacts to prevent connection with the pre-wired harness for mis-matched pre-wired conduit and pre-wired harnesses.

  • Publication number: 20070200039
Abstract: An adjustable outlet box bracket for attachment to studs or joists, which includes a first and a second telescoping rail portion with arms. At least one mounting bracket for outlet boxes is laterally positionable on the rail portions and fixable thereto. The arms are bendable to permit the degree to which the outlet box extends beyond the face of studs or joists to be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 6875922
Abstract: A position adjustable outlet box system. The system has an outlet box cage, a mounting plate to which the outlet box cage is attached (having a outlet box aperture formed therein), an outlet box that is slideably retained in the outlet box cage, and a drywall ring having a projecting neck portion, which drywall ring is attachable to the outlet box. An adjustment mechanism is provided to permit adjustment of the depth position of the outlet box in the outlet box guide cage. The adjustment mechanism can includes a bolt that freely rotates along its axial axis (but does not move axially relative to the outlet box cage), a threaded shaft that screws into a threaded hole in a back wall of the outlet box and turning means that is accessible from within the outlet box to permit the outlet box's depth position within the cage to be adjusted as needed.

  • Patent number: 6871827
Abstract: An electrical outlet box mounting bracket for mounting large size and small size standard electrical outlet boxes. The bracket has a flat section of material having a cutout pattern formed therein. The cutout pattern has a generally octagonal opening formed therein with a first, a second, a third and a fourth diagonally offset corner, and straight edges therebetween. A first, a second and a third closed keyhole slot is located inwardly of the first diagonal corner of the bracket, the keyhole slots having a wider end and a narrower slot portion with a terminal end. A first, a second and a third open slot are located diagonally opposite the keyhole cutouts in the third diagonal corner and opened therein. The open slots have a terminal end therein.

  • Patent number: 6653566
Abstract: A cover for pre-wired conduit boxes for use in installing sheet wall material around the conduit boxes, with or without mud rings having an opening and side walls, the conduit boxes having a front opening and spaced side walls and a back wall that define a cavity therein, and with fixtures and wiring contained therein. The cover is made from a puncture and ablation resistant material, such as steel, and has a face plate with a perimeter edge and apertures formed therethrough. The cover is sized to cover the front opening of the conduit box or the mud ring, and has arms extended rearwardly therefrom which are adapted to snugly engage with side walls of the conduit box of mud ring. The cover is preferable a unitary structure, and when the cover is placed over the front opening of the outlet box or mud ring, the perimeter of the cover provides a guide for a cutting tool, such as a router, which will allow a user to cut out an opening through the sheet material to complete installation of the wall sheet material.
