  • Publication number: 20140330823
Abstract: A program identifier, a limit identifier, a minimum value, and an increment value are stored to limit data. The limit identifier identifies a first variable used by the program. In response to storing a data value to a second variable, the stored limit identifier is found and a determination is made whether the stored limit identifier identifies the second variable. If the stored limit identifier identifies the second variable, a determination is made whether the data value is greater than the minimum value. If the data value is greater than the minimum value, the data value is stored to a log if an absolute value of the data value minus a most recently logged data value that was previously stored to the second variable is greater than the increment value. The execution of the program is halted or a user is notified in response to the storing to the log.

  • Publication number: 20130298157
Abstract: An alert generation method and system. The method includes receiving by a computer processor, alert data indicating filters for specified alert types associated with possible future events. The computer processor receives monitor definition data and media generated audio/video data; compares the alert data to the media generated audio/video data; determines a first alert type matches first audio/video data of the media generated audio/video data; and determines that the first audio/video data comprises a primary event. The computer processor broadcasts the primary event.

  • Patent number: 8558694
Abstract: A method to identify information technology resources whereby a locator device is inserted into a communication port of each information technology resource, such as a computers, router, cable endpoints, etc. When activated, the device passively receives wireless RF transmissions from broadcast units in the vicinity while actively receiving and storing configuration and other predetermined information from the resource. The device can calculate the exact position of the information technology resource and store the location in memory. The location and the identifying data of the information technology resource can be used in an asset management database, to locate a lost or missing resource, or can be used for billing for service level agreements. The method and device herein is particularly useful in secure facilities.

  • Patent number: 8417910
Abstract: The present invention provides an approach for SAN forecasting in a heterogeneous environment. Specifically, under the present invention capacity data on the heterogeneous environment is gathered. Capacity management techniques will then be used to analyze the SAN utilization, identify growth trends and patterns. Proactively, plans are made to account for these changes. Thereafter, a Capacity Planning Margin (CPM) will be applied to the forecast to reflect actual customer usage. The CPM adjusted forecasts will then be reviewed. Then, the SAN environment can be monitored by comparing actual vs. planned and return to adjust the forecast accordingly.

  • Patent number: 8145424
Abstract: A method for establishing a geographic boundary and monitoring an object within the boundary is provided. At least one first entity provides a second entity a request to form the geographic boundary and monitor the object within the boundary. The request may include parameters including at least a first set of coordinates of a geographic location associated with the geographic boundary to be formed. The method includes determining if the parameters provided include additional sets of coordinates for additional geographic locations associated with the geographic boundary to be formed. A footprint of the geographic boundary is selected dependent on whether the parameters provided include additional sets of coordinates. A rectangular footprint may be selected if the parameters include additional sets of coordinates and the coordinates form an isosceles triangle. The method includes forming the geographic boundary having the selected footprint. The object may be monitored within the geographic boundary.
