Abstract: A technique is provided for processing search results. The technique includes executing a search based on a user input entered via a graphical user interface using a processor, identifying relevant documents based on the search, and obtaining a standard classification for each relevant document. The standard classification is a classification within a standard classification system. The technique also includes reclassifying each relevant document, based on the relevant document's standard classification, into an interpretive classification within an interpretive classification system. The interpretive classification comprises at least a primary class and a secondary class. The technique further includes grouping the relevant documents into each relevant document's primary class and secondary class, and displaying the primary classes of the relevant documents and a number of relevant documents grouped in each displayed primary class via the graphical user interface on a display device.

Abstract: A method and system for searching documents is provided. The method includes creating one or more document vectors from one or more input documents. The method further includes performing a search on a document database based on the document vectors to locate one or more output documents related to one or more input documents. Thereafter, the method includes creating an interactive work-file including a list of the output documents and analysis of one or more attributes associated with the output documents. The interactive work-file can be stored and shared by a legal practitioner. The legal practitioner may share the interactive work-file with external legal practitioners and external legal examining authorities.

Abstract: A search platform that can locate a technology center within an organization using a patent search engine. Since organizational resources tend to be associated with patents or patent-related projects from a technical standpoint, the search platform can utilize these associations to identify particular technology centers within the organization. By searching patent collections and organizational workspaces associated with patents to obtain information on an organization's technology centers, the search platform can provide business intelligence to the organization without the need for a dedicated knowledge network to be built and maintained by the organization.

Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus for scoring an intellectual property asset, such as a patent. A platform for automated scoring can implement a z-score statistical method, or variations thereof, to score a patent. The z-score statistical method can be used to measure where a value of a parameter in a patent lies in relation to the average value of that parameter in a patent population. Parameter scores can be obtained for each parameter of the patent. Additionally, a composite score can be provided that indicates an overall score or value of the patent, at least with respect to the parameters examined, as against the patent population. The composite score can be a weighted score of the z-scores of different parameters of the patent.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and mediums for providing search functionality. A user interface can include a plurality of input elements. Various searches can be executed based on inputs to the input elements. A result set of documents and a search history can be displayed simultaneously. The search history can be displayed via the plurality of input elements. This can facilitate efficient perusal of search results and efficient modification of a search strategy. Accordingly, a user can quickly and efficiently review and analyze the results of a search. Additionally, the user can quickly and efficiently modify the search strategy to obtain new or refined results if determined that the original results are not as desired.

Abstract: A method, system, and article are provided for efficiently and effectively searching an electronic document collection. Each of the documents in the collection is pre-divided into sub-sections, and a static document vector is created for one or a combination of each sub-section of each document. A dynamic document vector is created for a query string submitted to the document collection. Based upon the parameters of the query, select sub-sections of each document are employed in a comparison of the dynamic document vector with select static document vectors. A compilation of IP documents is created based upon all associated select static document vectors that fall within a range of the dynamic document vector.

Abstract: A method, system, and article are provided for efficiently and effectively searching an electronic document collection. Each of the documents in the collection is pre-divided into sub-sections. One or more profiles are created, with each profile including a selection of one or more of the sections of the documents in the collection. In addition, a weight is assigned to each of the selected sections in the profile. Based upon the parameters of a query and selection of a profile, select sub-sections of each document are employed in a comparison of query data to the underlying document collection. A compilation of documents is created based upon all documents with data matching the query data within the sections of the document as identified in the submitted profile.
