  • Patent number: 6475532
Abstract: Disclosed is a calcium channel antagonist effective as a single substance for attaining dual purposes of inhibiting secretion of parathyroid hormones and of promoting absorption and utilization of calcium in human body as well as a process for preparing the calcium channel antagonist. According to the present invention the calcium channel antagonist is prepared by baking a calciferous material of plant origin at a temperature of 500-1000° C. under reduce pressure or vacuum and extracting the baked material with and acidic substance. The calcium channel antagonist may be incorporated with a conventional calcium preparations to enhance bioavailability of calcium. Further, the calcium channel antagonist of the present invention may be processed to calcium preparations in the form of porous granules.

  • Patent number: 6436447
Abstract: Disclosed is an evacuant possessing a sufficient evacuating effect in a small dose substantially without accompanying any irritation to bowel, irrespective of whether its preparations are in the form of tablets, liquids or elixirs, and having a suppressing action to odor of feces. This evacuant is characterized by containing an active magnesium oxide which has a BET value (surface area in terms of m2/g) of at least 21, preferably 21-50, more preferably 30-40 and is excellent in acid reactivity, and may preferably be incorporated with lactic acid bacteria, a mixture of sporolactobacteria and yeast extracts and/or oligosaccharides. The preparations are preferably in the form of liquids, granules, tablets and capsules.

  • Patent number: 5296246
Abstract: Active amino acid Ca, i.e., calcium oxide and/or hydroxide product coexistent with a slight amount of one or more amino acids and/or hydrolyzable amino acid derivatives is disclosed, which can be effectively absorbed into the human body and can deposit onto the bone with a high efficiency. Beverages containing same are also disclosed. The active amino acid Ca product is produced by calcining a calcium-containing material at 800.degree.-980.degree. C. in a calcining chamber free from oxygen, and subjecting the calcined product to a forced cooling step.
