  • Patent number: 5713271
Abstract: For applying a surface pressure and temperature to pressing band-driven workpieces a fluid pressure medium is accommodated in a pressure chamber which is limited between a pressing band and a workpiece as well as seals located therebetween, and the fluid pressure medium is subjected to extensive forced movement in the pressure chamber which forms an action zone.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 1, 1996
Date of Patent: February 3, 1998
    Assignee: Firma Theodor Hymmen

  • Patent number: 5094308
Abstract: A method and device for heating the pressure belt of a press, in which the press pressure is exerted by a gas-filled pressure chamber on the working run of pressure belt and heat transfer is increased by a high circulation rate of the pressure medium in pressure chamber, to create a situation in which a large quantity of heat can be transferred even in the lower pressure ranges. Steam is mixed with a gaseous pressure medium, e.g. air, before it enters the pressure chamber and the back of the pressure belt is exposed to the steam-air mixture in the vicinity of pressure chamber, whereupon the steam condenses wholly or partially on the colder back of the pressure belt in the zone adjacent to the entrance. The heat of condensation thus released results in intensive heating of the pressure belt in this zone and hence of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4877392
Abstract: An arrangement for applying a surface pressure to continuously moving workpiece webs, such as laminates, having at least one movable pressing band arranged to be pressed against a workpiece web by a pressure medium, a pressure chamber with a supply side and a discharge side so that the band is movable in a direction from the supply side into the pressure chamber to be heated and softened and then to be cooled and hardened and then it moves further in the movement direction to the discharge side. The arrangement has a sealing frame with a contour defining an enclosed region and is pressure loaded in a direction toward the pressing band. A transverse frame portion located at the discharge side has a smaller width than a transverse frame portion at the supply side.

  • Patent number: 4807525
Abstract: A conveyor press for applying a surface pressure to moving workpieces, such as wooden planks, rubber and plastic webs and the like, has at least one pressing band arranged to be pressed against a workpiece. A pressure plate applies a working pressure to an operating portion of the pressing band; a plurality of rolling bodies is arranged in the region of the pressure plate in frictional contact with the pressure plate and the pressing band and may be returned from an outlet end to an inlet end of the pressure plate. The rolling bodies are formed as roller assemblies; each includes a row of rollers assembled in a unit. The rollers are located in alignment with one another in a final position and are rotatable relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 4665819
Abstract: A device for applying surface pressure to a movable workpiece, for example a plate of wood, comprises two pressure-applying endless belts on which pressure is exerted by means of pressure air contained in two pressure chambers. Each pressure chamber is defined by a back side of the belt, a pressure plate and a sealing provided on the pressure plate. The sealing includes longitudinal wave-shaped sealing strips extended along the longitudinal edges of the pressure plate and transversal strips.
