Abstract: A vehicle route guidance computer system is configured to store habitual travel routes for drivers; detect driving by a vehicle of one of the drivers along one of the habitual travel routes; monitor vehicle location along the route; monitor traffic signal states and traffic conditions along the route; calculate an optimal velocity of the vehicle to maximize likelihood of reaching a next traffic signal along the route when the signal is green, and transmit a guidance signal to a guidance device in a vehicle to advise the driver to decelerate or accelerate the vehicle. The vehicle route guidance computer system may be further configured to detect an adverse condition along the route, calculate an alternative route, and transmit a direction guidance signal to the guidance device for guiding the driver to the alternative route.
