  • Patent number: 8297106
Abstract: The invention relates to a gas chromatography system for the direct coupling of liquid chromatography and gas chromatography or for the introduction of large sample volumes, which is configured to operate selectively in a retention mode. The inventive system includes a tube (2) having a first inlet part (21), a second inlet part (22) and a retention part (3) between said two inlet parts. The system also includes two gas delivery subsystems (6, 7) and a sample introduction conduit (101) which is connected to the first inlet part (21). The system further includes a discharge conduit (9) and a gas chromatography column (300), both of which are connected to the second inlet part (22). The invention also relates to a gas chromatography method.

  • Patent number: 7695617
Abstract: The invention relates to an interface injector device for the direct coupling of liquid chromatography and gas chromatography, comprising an outer body (1) with an inner cavity with two inner chambers (2a, 2b) separated by a dividing element (9, 11a); a first passage (3) of the first chamber (2a) to a waste duct (8); an inner tube (5) arranged in the inner cavity and traversing the dividing element (9, 11a), and having a first section (5a) in the first inner chamber (2a), a second section (5b) in the second inner chamber (2b), and an inner channel (5f) which can house an adsorbent material (6), and at least one inorganic wool material (7) retained in the first section (5a) of the inner tube by retaining means (7), a first opening (10) communicated with the waste duct (8) exclusively through the first inner chamber (2a).

  • Publication number: 20080206739
Abstract: The invention relates to an analysis method for pesticide residues in plants. The method uses the interface device for the direct coupling of liquid chromatography and gas chromatography, called the TOTAD (Through Oven Transfer Adsorption Desorption) interface in scientific literature. The method only requires an extraction step prior to the chromatographic analysis. The pesticides are extracted from the sample with an organic solvent. Extract volumes that are much larger than those usually used are directly injected into the gas chromatograph, without needing any prior extract cleaning or concentration step. The TOTAD interface allows injecting extract volumes that are much larger than those normally injected into the gas chromatograph.
