  • Publication number: 20240066206
Abstract: A drug delivery device includes a housing, a container disposed in the housing, an activation mechanism, a needle assembly, and a temperature indicator. The housing defines an inner volume and includes at least one opening. The container contains a medicament which is urged out of the container by the activation mechanism. The needle assembly has a needle and/or a cannula to deliver the medicament from the container. The temperature indicator is operably coupled with the outer surface of the container and is responsive to a change in temperature of the container.

  • Patent number: 11904143
Abstract: An injector includes a housing having a syringe assembly and an actuating mechanism at least partially disposed within the housing. The syringe assembly includes a syringe barrel that stores a medicament to be injected into a user, a needle assembly, and a filter member disposed adjacent to the needle assembly. The actuating mechanism is operatively coupled to the syringe assembly and includes a torque spring that exerts a torque to urge the medicament through the filter member to be injected into the user. The actuating mechanism further includes a damper mechanism that exerts an opposing force to dampen the motion exerted by the torque spring.

  • Publication number: 20220409817
Abstract: Syringes, assemblies for use in a filling process, and related methods of manufacture are disclosed. A syringe may include a reservoir filled or configured to be filled with a preselected volume of a drug, including, for example, a preselected volume of 3 mL or approximately 3 mL of the drug. The syringe may further include a wall comprising a cylindrical portion. The cylindrical portion of the wall may include: (a) an inner diameter equal to or approximately equal to a standard inner diameter of a 5 mL syringe or a standard outer diameter of any other syringe volume not equal to the preselected volume or 3 mL; and/or (b) an outer diameter equal to or approximately equal to a standard outer diameter of a 5 mL syringe or a standard outer diameter of any other syringe volume not equal to the preselected volume or 3 mL.

  • Publication number: 20220288324
Abstract: A drug delivery device including a housing, a drug storage container, and a removable cap is provided. The housing includes a housing camming feature and a longitudinal axis and includes an opening. The drug storage container includes a delivery member having an insertion end configured to extend at least partially through the opening during a delivery state. The removable cap defines a cap camming feature and is configured to be removably coupled with the housing such that the removable cap has a storage position where the removable cap is coupled with the housing and at least partially covering the opening and a removed position where the removable cap is not coupled with the housing. The cap camming feature and the housing camming feature are configured to translate rotational motion into axial motion such that, upon rotational movement of the removable cap, the cap camming feature and/or the housing camming feature urge the removable cap along the longitudinal axis.

  • Publication number: 20220047815
Abstract: A plunger configured as described herein provides geometry optimizations to minimize friction magnitude and variability during use by maintaining low deformation under large extrusion forces. More specifically, plunger embodiments described herein minimize a contact area between the plunger and a syringe or chamber, while also maintaining high contract pressures to maintain container closure integrity. Moreover, the plunger embodiments are configured to have minimal or no increase in the contact area under high loads associated with the delivery of viscous products.

  • Publication number: 20210093792
Abstract: A drug delivery device and method of using the same may include a housing having an opening and a drug storage container including a delivery member with an insertion end configured to extend at least partially through the opening. The drug storage container may be coupled with the housing such as to substantially prevent relative movement therebetween. A guard may be positioned adjacent to the opening and operably coupled with the plunger biasing member such that a relative movement between the guard and the housing permits release of a plunger biasing member to urge a plunger in to expel a drug from the drug storage container. A lock component may be configured to resist the relative movement between the guard and the housing until the lock component is released by a user force, whereafter the user force drives the housing and the drug storage container toward an injection site.

  • Publication number: 20200197628
Abstract: A syringe assembly for a drug delivery device. The syringe assembly includes a syringe barrel having a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis. A needle assembly is operatively coupled to the syringe barrel and includes a needle hub and a needle attached to the needle hub. A flexible connection is disposed between the syringe barrel and the needle hub and forms a fluid pathway between the syringe barrel and the needle. The flexible connection enables the needle assembly to be moveable from a filling position, in which a longitudinal axis of the needle assembly is parallel to a longitudinal axis of the syringe barrel, to an assembled position, in which the longitudinal axis of the needle assembly is not parallel to the longitudinal axis of the syringe barrel.
