Abstract: A simple to use, inexpensive and readily portable surgical practice and teaching kit is described that includes in portfolio form a two layer practice suturing pad including a latex rubber layer simulating human skin attached to a plastic foam layer that simulates underlying human tissue, the foam layer having incorporated therein simulated subcutaneous growths or lesions such as simulated lipomas or sebaceous cysts. The practice pad is mounted on a folder or portfolio for convenient access and use by the student or practitioner, the portfolio also including pictorial illustrations showing various proper suturing techniques as a visual guide to the user in practicing suturing procedures.
