  • Patent number: 8041298
Abstract: The object of the invention is a method where a first communications device (10) and a second communications device (20), previously unknown to each other, communicate with each other wirelessly using short-range RF technology, said second communications device being at a certain moment of time in a first mode where the address of said second communications device is determinable by means of an inquiry wirelessly sent to it. In the method, the first communications device (10) sends (31) a first message in order to determine the address of said second communications device, said second communications device (20) receives (32) the first message, and said second communications device (20) generates and sends (33) to the first communications device a second message in response to the first message, the second message containing the address of said second communications device.

  • Patent number: 7792490
Abstract: In accordance with the exemplary embodiments of the invention there is at least a method, apparatus, and an executable computer program enabling a first communications device and a second communications device, possibly previously unknown to each other, to communicate with each other wirelessly using short-range radio frequency technology. A connection establishment process is executed to establish a connection between the first communications device and said second communications device. Further, in accordance with the embodiments, during the connection establishment process, or in response to successful completion of the connection establishment process, at least one of said first and second communications devices switches from said first mode into a second mode, in which second mode, the communications device that has switched into said second mode does not respond to messages arriving at it which have been sent to discover the address of the communications device that has switched into said second mode.

  • Patent number: 7437183
Abstract: A car hands-free unit (HFU 140) with a Low-Power Radio-Frequency (LPRF) module 141 (typically a Bluetooth module) configured to receive an identifier 134 from a car key 133. Different drivers are provided with different car keys 133. When receiving the identifier 134 first time, the HFU stores trusted data to pair with a driver's phone. Thereafter, the HFU automatically connects to the driver's phone when the same car key 133 is used. The hands-free unit typically comprises a microphone and a loudspeaker, and can also have a display and/or a camera. In operation the HFU provides automatic link 160 with a compliant LPRF enabled mobile phone without need to touch the mobile phone, allowing its use even when the mobile phone is placed in a boot of a car 101.

  • Patent number: 6237080
Abstract: A computer having a reduced instruction computer (RISC) architecture has a RISC central processing unit (CPU)(1) coupled to a RAM memory (3) and to a flash ROM memory (4). A set of compressed operating instructions (6,8), including a subset defining a compression method (8), are stored in the flash ROM (4) together with a set of uncompressed instructions (7) defining a compression algorithm. Upon booting of the computer, the uncompressed instructions (7) are read from the ROM (4) by the CPU (1) which then also reads the compressed instructions (6,8), decompresses them according to the decompression process (7), and writes the decompressed instructions (6′,8′) to the RAM (3). The compressed instructions (6,8) can be dynamically altered by the CPU (1), by generating an altered set of uncompressed instructions, compressing these in accordance with the now decompressed compression method (8′), and writing these to the flash ROM (4).
