  • Patent number: 9488984
Abstract: Disclosed are a method, device and system for navigation of an autonomous supply chain node vehicle in a storage center using virtual image-code tape. In one aspect, a layout diagram with a set of shelves is analyzed. A trajectory for movement of the autonomous supply chain node vehicle avoiding the shelves is determined. A training set of discrete overlapping images of peripheral area along the trajectory is captured with an imaging device on the autonomous supply chain node vehicle in a learning mode. A virtual image-code tape capturing a continuous area of storage center with globally unique identifiers (GUIDs) associated with the peripheral area is generated. The GUIDs include spatial information and identifiable image features from the training set capturing floor marks. An operating set of discrete overlapping images is captured in a normal mode and compared with GUIDs of the virtual image-code tape to determine a current location.

  • Publication number: 20160321603
Abstract: Disclosed are a method, system and/or device of continuous barcode tape based inventory location tracking. In one aspect, a method includes analyzing a layout diagram of a distribution center. The method further includes determining that the layout diagram includes a shelf. A number of segments associated with the shelf based on a forecasted allocation of an inventory on the shelf are calculated. A bar code tape having a globally unique identifier (GUID) associated with each segment of the number of shelves is automatically generated using a processor and a memory of a central inventory tracking system.

  • Publication number: 20160297611
Abstract: Disclosed are a system and/or a method of telepresence based inventory pick and place operations through actuator controlled robotic arms affixed to each row of a shelf. A method includes mounting a robotic arm at an end of a row of a shelf of inventory on a set of rails affixed to the row of a shelf. The robotic arm is permitted to move horizontally along the row of the shelf. The robotic arm is repositioned along the three axes using a set of actuators. A haptic motion of a human user is mirrored that is remotely using a positioning device (e.g., human may feel the feedback of the remote arm as it touches the objects). An item is placed on a counting platform in front of the robotic arm. The items are placed automatically in the designated location down through a transport means when a pick operation is completed.

  • Patent number: 8773986
Abstract: A system and method for providing upstream adaptive modulation. Burst parameters associated with a range of data interval usage codes (IUCs) are defined. Each of the data IUCs has a different modulation order and forward error correction (FEC). The SNR and codeword error rate for each satellite modem in the network are monitored. The data IUCs are dynamically assigned to different satellite modems within an upstream channel based on SNR and/or codeword error rate to enable each of the satellite modems in the upstream channel to achieve maximum bandwidth efficiency during upstream data transmissions. Bandwidth requests are received from the satellite modems and granted. The grant includes the assigned data IUC. The data bursts received in the upstream channel are each processed using the parameters from the assigned IUC for each of the satellite modems sending data in the upstream channel.

  • Patent number: 8555134
Abstract: A method of transmitting data in a cable modem system includes the steps of encoding the data using forward error correction. The data is then encoded with Turbo encoding. The data is then sent to a modulation scheme. The data is then transmitted over a cable channel. The data is then demodulated. The data is then decoded using a Turbo decoder. An inverse of the forward error correction is then applied to the data.

  • Patent number: 8098606
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product for generating and processing upstream channel descriptor (UCD) messages in a DOCSIS-based broadband communications system, such as a DOCSIS-based two-way satellite communications system, is provided. A satellite modem termination system (SMTS) generates a UCD message that includes one or more standard parameters pertaining to an upstream channel of the two-way satellite communications system, wherein the one or more standard parameters are defined in accordance with the DOCSIS protocol, and one or more satellite application-specific parameters pertaining to the upstream channel, wherein the one or more satellite application specific parameters are not provided for by the DOCSIS protocol. The UCD message is transmitted to a satellite modem that extracts both the standard and satellite application-specific parameters for use in managing communication over the upstream channel.

  • Patent number: 7606188
Abstract: Satellite communications are carried out using the Data Over Cable Interface Specification (DOCSIS). Satellite modems are notified of upstream channel congestion by inserting a congestion notification message in a medium access protocol (MAP) message for the upstream channel. Specifically, the congestion notification message is inserted in an unused field of the MAP message, such as the explicit congestion notification (ECN) field. The MAP message can also carry other characteristics of the upstream channel, including priority threshold, multicast access burst availability, and available bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 7463707
Abstract: A system and method for minimizing the frequency error of satellite modem signals at a satellite gateway. The gateway downstream baud (symbol) clock and the elements that control the upstream frequency (i.e., local oscillators in the conversion chain, A/D sample clocks) are locked to a common frequency reference. The gateway sends upstream satellite frequency offset information, such as satellite ephemeris data from which to calculate Doppler offset, to the satellite modem. The satellite modem locks the frequency of the satellite modems master oscillator to the recovered baud rate using a frequency locked loop. The satellite modem uses its master oscillator as the carrier reference for the upstream frequency up conversion. The satellite modem uses or calculates the upstream satellite frequency offset and compensates for this offset by shifting its center frequency.
