  • Publication number: 20210271110
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to lenses, devices, methods and/or systems for addressing refractive error. Certain embodiments are directed to changing or controlling the wavefront of the light entering a human eye. The lenses, devices, methods and/or systems can be used for correcting, addressing, mitigating or treating refractive errors and provide excellent vision at distances encompassing far to near without significant ghosting. The refractive error may for example arise from myopia, hyperopia, or presbyopia with or without astigmatism. Certain disclosed embodiments of lenses, devices and/or methods include embodiments that address foveal and/or peripheral vision. Exemplary of lenses in the fields of certain embodiments include contact lenses, corneal onlays, corneal inlays, and lenses for intraocular devices both anterior and posterior chamber, accommodating intraocular lenses, electro-active spectacle lenses and/or refractive surgery.

  • Publication number: 20210271678
Abstract: An approach is provided for optimizing data fetching. A query employing a method to fetch data from a JSON document is received. An amount of time required to execute the query and a number of nested layers in a traversal of the JSON document required to fetch the data are determined. Based on the amount of time and the number of nested layers, a cost associated with an execution of the query is calculated. The cost is determined to exceed a threshold value. Responsive to the determination that the cost exceeds the threshold value and using historical query patterns and historical query execution times, a schema of the JSON document is re-designed. The data is fetched from the JSON document using the re-designed schema.

  • Publication number: 20210256005
Abstract: One example method includes receiving a write request that includes a data structure version to be written, wherein the data structure version is associated with a unique identifier, storing the data structure version in association with the unique identifier, receiving a read request for a most recent version of the data structure and, when the stored data structure version is not the most recent version of the data structure, examining respective unique identifiers of each of a group of other stored data structure versions to determine which stored data structure version is the most recent. Finally, the example method includes returning the most recent data structure version, notwithstanding that one or more other data structure versions existed at the time that the read request was received.

  • Patent number: 11068797
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting indirect bias in machine learning models are provided. A computer-implemented method includes: receiving, by a computer device, a user request to detect transitive bias in a machine learning model; determining, by the computer device, correlations of attributes of neighboring data not included in a dataset of the machine learning model; ranking, by the computer device, the attributes based on the determined correlations; and returning, by the computer device, a list of the ranked attributes to a user that generated the user request.

  • Publication number: 20210211325
Abstract: An apparatus, system, method, and computer-readable recording media perform smart control in a wireless network, which includes a plurality of wireless devices. Configuration parameters are obtained to set one wireless device as an active master device in the wireless network. The active master device receives updates in the configuration parameters and learned station (STA) information, and periodically transmits the updates to the configuration parameters and the learned STA information to the other wireless devices in the wireless network. Any one of the other wireless devices in the wireless network can use the updates to the configuration parameters and the learned STA information to be set as a new active master device in the wireless network when the active master device becomes out of network.

  • Publication number: 20210191157
Abstract: Certain embodiments are directed to lenses, devices and/or methods. For example, a lens for an eye having an optical axis and an aberration profile along its optical axis, the aberration profile having a focal distance and including higher order aberrations having at least one of a primary spherical aberration component C(4,0) and a secondary spherical aberration component C(6,0). The aberration profile may provide, for a model eye with no aberrations and an on-axis length equal to the focal distance: (i) a peak, first retinal image quality (RIQ) within a through focus range that remains at or above a second RIQ over the through focus range that includes said focal distance, where the first RIQ is at least 0.35, the second RIQ is at least 0.1 and the through focus range is at least 1.8 Diopters; (ii) a RIQ of 0.3 with a through focus slope that improves in a direction of eye growth; and (iii) a RIQ of 0.3 with a through focus slope that degrades in a direction of eye growth.

  • Patent number: 11016939
Abstract: A deduplicated microservices-based storage system and method running in a cloud includes frontend and backend microservice nodes that process requests from a plurality of clients and interface with a master node and one or more worker nodes connected as a network for deduplicating, storing and retrieving data from object storage. A custom metric compares demand on system resources to thresholds and dynamically scales resources to add or eliminate resources according to demand. The master node partitions the range of values identifying data similarity groups across the worker nodes, reassigns ranges of values using consistent hashing as worker nodes are scaled, and maintains a mapping of ranges of values to worker IP addresses.

  • Publication number: 20210082411
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments relate to a system for recovering a conversation between a user and the system when the system is unable to properly respond to a user's input. The system may process the user input and determine an error condition exists. The system may query one or more storage systems to identify candidate text data based on their semantic similarity to the user input. The storage systems may store data related to past frequently entered inputs and/or user-generated inputs. Alternative text data is selected from the candidate text data, and presented to the user for confirmation.

  • Publication number: 20200411037
Abstract: Techniques for performing conversation recovery of a system/user exchange are described. In response to determining that an action responsive to a user input cannot be performed, a system may determine a topic to recommend to a user. The topic may be unrelated to the original substance of the user input. The system may have access to various data representing a context in which a user provides an input to the system. The system may use these inputs and various data at runtime to make a determination regarding whether a user should be recommended a topic, as well as what that topic should be. The system may cause a question be output to the user, with the question asking the user about the topic, for example whether the user would like a song played, whether the user would like to hear information about a particular individual (e.g., artist), whether the user would like to know about a particular skill (e.g.

  • Patent number: 10801726
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a combustor assembly for a gas turbine engine. The combustor assembly includes a deflector wall, an annular axial wall, and an annular shroud. The deflector wall is extended at least partially along a radial direction and a circumferential direction relative to an axial centerline and adjacent to a combustion chamber. A fuel nozzle opening is defined through the deflector wall, and a nozzle centerline is extended through the fuel nozzle opening along a lengthwise direction. The annular axial wall is coupled to the deflector wall and extended through the fuel nozzle opening. The axial wall is defined around the nozzle centerline. The annular shroud is defined around the nozzle centerline and extended co-directional to the axial wall. The axial wall and the annular shroud are each coupled to a radial wall defined upstream of the deflector wall. The annular shroud, the axial wall, and the radial wall together define a cooling plenum therebetween.
