  • Patent number: 8373861
Abstract: A system for the rapid analysis of microbiological parameters includes a specimen container for containing a liquid sample, a housing having an enclosable chamber shaped for receiving the specimen container, an incubating system mounted within the housing for incubating microbiological materials within the liquid sample, and a spectrophotometer system mounted within the housing for measuring light absorbed, emitted or scattered by the liquid samples as the microbiological materials are incubated by the incubating system over time. The specimen container is filled with a liquid sample to be tested and mixed with a reagent that provides a detectable parameter, and placed inside the apparatus. The incubation system heats and maintains the temperature of the liquid sample within a preset range while the spectrophotometer system propagates light within the specimen container, and monitors and records changes in the light as the light propagates through the container.

  • Publication number: 20080293091
Abstract: A system providing non-intrusive, automated culturing and photometric detection for analyzing microbiological parameters is described. The system includes a sealed non-intrusive sample cuvette, a housing with an enclosable cover, systems for incubation and photometric detection mounted within the housing. The sample cuvette consists of a clear graduated optically transmitive container with two chambers—a culture chamber and a detection chamber, separated by a permeable membrane wall. The cuvette has an upper part and a lower part of different dimensions. The upper part is bigger in size than the lower part. The sealed top of the cuvette has two fluid inlet/outlet ports for the introduction of the sample into one chamber while when connected to a suitable vacuum device, the second chamber receives the filtered sample through the permeable membrane. The housing has a cuvette holder that is shaped to provide a very snug fit for the cuvette.

  • Patent number: 6465242
Abstract: A portable incubator for testing water comprising a housing, a heating element, a temperature sensor, a heating controller and a specimen bottle having recesses for receiving the heating element and the temperature sensor. The specimen bottle is filled with water to be tested which is mixed with a reagent and placed inside the incubator. The heating controller serves to keep the temperature of the water within a preset range.
