    Abstract: A method and apparatus provide for low latency transmissions. A higher layer configuration message can be received that indicates a set of resource blocks for receiving data packets in at least one symbol of a subframe. An attempt can be made to decode a data packet in a first set of resource elements within the set of resource blocks. The first set of resource elements can be in the at least one symbol of the subframe. An attempt can be made to decode the data packet in at least a second set of resource elements within the set of resource blocks. The second set of resource elements can be in the at least one symbol of the subframe. The second set of resource elements can include at least one resource element that is not in the first set of resource elements. The data packet in one of the first set of resource elements and the second set of resource elements can be successfully decoded. A data payload of the decoded data packet can be delivered to an application layer.

One apparatus includes a transceiver that communicates with a remote unit and a processor that determines to perform a conditional handover of the remote unit to a target base unit. The processor sends a conditional handover command to the remote unit, the conditional handover command including at least one condition the remote unit is to monitor for fulfillment prior to handing over to the target base unit. The processor receives uplink data from the remote unit after sending the conditional handover command and forwards the uplink data to the target base unit. The processor also sends an end marker to the target base unit in response to completing the forwarding of the uplink data.

The processor receives a control signal from the network and submits a PDCP data PDU in the PDCP entity to the first RLC entity for transmission. In response to the first control signal, the processor submits the PDCP data PDU to the second RLC entity for transmission. The processor indicates to one of the first and second RLC entities to discard a duplicate PDCP data PDU corresponding to a successfully delivered PDCP data PDU.
