  • Publication number: 20150192020
Abstract: A turbomachine includes a compressor portion, a turbine portion operatively connected to the compressor portion, and a shroud mounted in one of the compressor portion and the turbine portion. The shroud includes a radial outer side, and a plurality of side surfaces. The radial outer side includes a recessed portion. A trench is formed in the recessed portion, and a cooling passage extends between the trench and at least one of the plurality of side surfaces. An airfoil component is arranged in the one of the compressor portion and the turbine portion. The airfoil component includes an airfoil portion having at least one mounting member. The at least one mounting member includes an internal cavity. A trench element is formed in the internal cavity, and a cooling passage element extends between the trench element and an external surface of the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 7993102
Abstract: A cooling circuit serves to provide cooling air in a rotor having a compressor rotor and a turbine rotor. The cooling circuit includes a first cooling path through the compressor rotor in series with a second cooling path through the turbine rotor such that one amount of cooling air is used for cooling both the compressor rotor and the turbine rotor. The construction enables a reduction in cooling air requirements, thereby increasing power plant efficiency.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 7914253
Abstract: A system for regulating a cooling fluid within a turbomachine. The system may include a plurality of bypass chambers, wherein each of the plurality of bypass chambers allows for the cooling fluid to pass from the compressor section to the at least one wheelspace area. The system may also include a plurality of bypass plugs, wherein each of the plurality of bypass plugs is insertable into a bypass chamber opening on each of the plurality of bypass chambers.
