  • Patent number: 10280997
Abstract: A method for controlling a hydrodynamic retarder in a motor vehicle that can be mechanically disengaged via a disconnect clutch, whereby at least one of the rotational speed of a revolving bladed rotor and the speed of a motor vehicle is monitored and a disconnect clutch is engaged below at least one of a pre-specified rotational speed of the revolving bladed rotor and a pre-specified speed of the motor vehicle, regardless of a request made by a driver assist system or by operation of an input device by the operator of the motor vehicle to turn on the hydrodynamic retarder.

  • Patent number: 9944287
Abstract: A method for controlling a hydrodynamic retarder in a motor vehicle that can be mechanically disengaged via a disconnect clutch, comprising a drive motor whose power output is controlled via an actuator such as a foot pedal or a lever; whereby in an overrun operation the acceleration of the motor vehicle is collected or detected and compared with a pre-specified acceleration value; and whereby in the non-braking mode the disconnect clutch is engaged, regardless of an initiation of a braking mode by an operator of the motor vehicle or a driver assist system and the working chamber is maintained drained when the acceleration exceeds an acceleration limit.

  • Publication number: 20170327099
Abstract: A working medium circuit for a hydrodynamic machine. The working medium circuit includes a working medium container, an inflow line, an emptying line, and a heat exchanger. The working medium can be moved out of the working medium container into the working chamber for a first operating state, in particular the braking mode, and the working medium can be moved out of the working chamber back into the working medium container for a second operating state, in particular the non-braking mode. For aerating and ventilating, the working chamber is connected at least indirectly via a ventilating line to a chamber which has a ventilating device with respect to the surroundings and in which working medium can collect.

  • Publication number: 20140113759
Abstract: The invention concerns a drive train having a hydrodynamic retarder, by means of which the drive train can be braked hydrodynamically; wherein the hydrodynamic retarder comprises a driven rotor and a stator or a driven rotor and a counter-rotor driven in reverse direction with respect to the rotor, which together form a working chamber which can be filled with working medium and which can be drained from said medium.

  • Publication number: 20140050565
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydrodynamic component comprising at least two elements which form a working chamber therebetween and which comprises a primary wheel and a secondary wheel. A working medium which can be introduced into the working chamber allows torque to be transmitted between said elements. At least one of the elements is arranged in a rotationally fixed manner on a shaft. The hydrodynamic component comprises a device for detecting a variable characterising at least directly the transmitted torque and/or the rotation of the shaft. According to the invention, the shaft is at least designed to have at least two sections which are at an axial distance from each other and which are made of a ferromagnetic material and is provided with a magnetic field which is rotationally stable with the respective section. Magnetic field sensors are arranged in areas corresponding to the at least two sections.
