  • Publication number: 20250106679
Abstract: A system described herein may maintain a set of Quality of Service (“QoS”) parameters associated with a particular User Equipment (“UE”). The system may provide the set of QoS parameters to a policy element of a wireless network, wherein the wireless network establishes a first dedicated bearer with the particular UE, which may be associated with the set of QoS parameters. The system may receive, after the first dedicated bearer is established, information indicating an occurrence of a particular event associated with the particular UE, and may output, to a policy element of the wireless network, a request to establish a second dedicated bearer with the particular UE. The wireless network may establish the second dedicated bearer with the particular UE, which may be associated with the set of QoS parameters.

Abstract: A system may receive registration information regarding a user equipment (UE). The system may determine a UE usage type for the UE from a plurality of UE usage types. The plurality of UE usage types includes a first UE usage type associated with accessing first services using a cloud domain name system (DNS) and a second UE usage type associated with accessing second services using an edge DNS. The system may receive a notification indicating that the UE is requesting access to a service and identify an edge device for providing access to the service. The system may obtain information identifying the UE usage type of the UE based on UE identification information of the UE. The system may provide, to the UE, DNS information regarding using the cloud DNS or the edge DNS to obtain a network address of the edge device.

  • Publication number: 20240292228
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards citizens' broadband radio service (CBRS) channel selection for cellular communication networks in a manner that reduces the risk of CBRS channel revocation due to incumbent activity within a dynamic protection area. A data store can be maintained that includes dynamic protection area location information as well as historic incumbent CBRS channel use information. When selecting a CBRS channel for a radio access network (RAN) node, the position of the RAN node can be considered to determine if the RAN node is in or near a dynamic protection area. If so, the data store can be consulted to avoid selecting CBRS channels that have historically been subject to revocation in the dynamic protection area.

  • Publication number: 20240292229
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards policy-based citizens broadband radio service (CBRS) channel selection in a cellular communication network. A selection policy can be applied to select CBRS channels for radio access network (RAN) nodes. The selection policy can include performance indicator thresholds, and a CBRS channel can be selected for use at a RAN node when performance indicator measurement values for the CBRS channel satisfy the performance indicator thresholds. The selection policy can be dynamic by applying different performance indicator thresholds under different circumstances such as different traffic conditions experienced at the RAN node.

  • Patent number: 12047992
Abstract: A system described herein may monitor, via a Central Unit (“CU”) of a radio access network (“RAN”), radio frequency (“RF”) metrics associated with a User Equipment (“UE”). The monitored RF metrics may be based on communications between the UE and a Distributed Unit (“DU”) that is communicatively coupled to the CU. The system may identify a Multi-Access/Mobile Edge Computing (“MEC”) device that is communicatively coupled to the DU and that provides one or more services to the UE via the DU. The system may resource allocation parameters for the MEC based on the RF metrics between the UE and the DU. The system may instruct the MEC to implement the set of resource allocation parameters. The MEC may modify an allocation of MEC resources, allocated for providing the one or more services to the UE, based on the determined set of resource allocation parameters.

  • Patent number: 12004110
Abstract: A radio node that selectively performs a remedial action is described. During operation, the radio node detects a potential change in a location of the radio node relative to a predefined location. For example, the radio node may detect the potential change in the location based at least in part on a change in a network parameter of the radio node and/or by performing a scan of wireless signals in an environment of the radio node. Then, in response to detecting the potential change in the location, the radio node determines the location of the radio node (e.g., by using a positioning system). When there is at least a predefined change in the location of the radio node relative to the predefined location, the radio node selectively performs the remedial action. Notably, the remedial action may include: providing an alert or a notification, discontinuing transmissions, or re-register the radio node.

  • Publication number: 20240121679
Abstract: Improved techniques for selecting a handover target cell are described herein, for example in connection with a 5G disaggregated radio network. For example, in addition to evaluating signal quality metrics that are reported by the user equipment subject to the handover, the disclosed techniques can also evaluate additional metrics. For example, a load associated with potential target cells can be considered as neighbor load can cause handover issues. As another example, a history of success rates associated with a handover to the target cell and/or from the serving cell can be considered as well since handover failures can sometimes result due to issues that can be surfaced by the success rate history.

  • Patent number: 11882615
Abstract: During operation, a radio node may provide, at a transmit time during a first time interval, a first instance of a keep-alive message to a computer. Then, the radio node may receive, at a receive time prior to a first instance of a transmit expire time, an instance of a keep-alive response from the computer, where the instance of the keep-alive response authorizes the radio node to transmit in a granted portion of the spectrum until a second instance of the transmit expire time has elapsed. Moreover, the radio node may determine, based at least in part on the receive time and the first instance of the transmit expire time, an updated transmit time. Next, the radio node may provide, at the updated transmit time, which is prior to the second instance of the transmit expire time, a second instance of the keep-alive message addressed to the computer.

  • Patent number: 11765599
Abstract: During operation, the radio node may identify a second portion of a shared-license-access (SLA) band of frequencies with an improved communication-performance metric relative to a first portion of the SLA band of frequencies, which is currently approved and authorized for use. In response, the radio may provide a grant request to the computer for the second portion of the SLA band of frequencies, and may receive a grant response from the computer with an approval for a grant to the second portion of the SLA band of frequencies. Then, the radio node may provide a heartbeat request to the computer requesting authorization to use the second portion of the SLA band of frequencies, and may receive a heartbeat response from the computer with the authorization. Next, the radio node may provide a relinquishment request to the computer for the first portion of the SLA band of frequencies.

  • Patent number: 11751065
Abstract: During operation, a radio node may receive location information relating to a location of the radio node. Then, the radio node may provide a grant request to a computer, where the grant request includes a request to reserve a portion of a shared-license-access band of frequencies for use by the radio node based at least in part on the location information. Note that the location information may indicate whether the radio node is included in a geographic region. For example, the geographic region may include locations within a predefined distance from a boundary, such as a coastline. When the location information indicates the radio node is included in the geographic region, the portion of the shared-license-access band of frequencies may be outside of a second portion of the shared-license-access band of frequencies that is selectively used by a government user or a satellite service.
