Patent number: 8328889Abstract: Systems and processes for producing syngas and power therefrom are provided. One or more feedstocks and one or more oxidants can be combined in a fluidized reaction zone operated at a temperature from 550° C. to 1,050° C. to provide a syngas. Heat can be indirectly exchanged in a first zone from the syngas to a condensate to provide steam. Heat can also be indirectly exchanged in a second zone from the syngas to the steam to provide superheated steam. Heat can then be indirectly exchanged in a third zone from the syngas to provide a cooled syngas and the condensate for the first zone. At least a portion of the superheated steam can be directly supplied to one or more steam turbines to produce power.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2007Date of Patent: December 11, 2012Assignee: Kellogg Brown & Root LLCInventor: Ravindra K. Agrawal

Patent number: 7047501Abstract: In a computer employing a graphical user interface (GUI), a method for displaying controls in command bars, which replace conventional menu bars and toolbars. Command bars employ a unified data structure that allows all types of controls to be included in both menu-like command bars and toolbar-like command bars. Command bars may be customized by dragging controls from a list of available commands or from another command bar. By not restricting the types of controls that can appear in each command bar, controls may be grouped to associate drop down menu controls with pushbutton controls. Menu-like command bars and toolbar-like command bars may be merged in a way that provides an intuitive and advantageous listing of commands. Menu popups may be torn off using a clearly indicated drag handle.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2002Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Peter G. Morcos, Ravindra K. Agrawal, Lawrence W. Baldwin, Tjeerd S. Hoek, David C. Parker

Patent number: 6609907Abstract: A combustion apparatus and process for improved flue gas recirculation wherein the recirculation line penetrates into an exhaust duct, such as the exhaust stack for capturing and directing a portion of said flue gas through the recirculation line which is connected to an air fan inlet which provides induction of the flue gas into the combustion unit. The portion of the recirculation line that extends into the exhaust stack is preferably aerodynamically configured to capture a portion of a flue gas stream without detrimental impedance of the gas flow.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 2002Date of Patent: August 26, 2003Assignee: Entropy Technology and Environmental Consultants, LPInventors: Stephen C. Wood, Ravindra K. Agrawal

Patent number: 6599119Abstract: A combustion apparatus which has a post combustion hot gas fan and a recirculation duct positioned down stream from the fan to reduce NOx emissions by returning a portion of the exhaust from the combustion zone back to the combustion zone. For example, in one embodiment the increased velocity of the exhaust gas stream from the post combustion hot gas fan which is required to overcome the pressure drop in a post combustion treatment unit is used as the motive force for the recirculation of a portion of the exhaust to the combustion zone to reduce the NOx exiting the apparatus to a level below that of the post combustion treatment alone.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2002Date of Patent: July 29, 2003Assignee: Entropy Technology and Environmental Consultants, LPInventors: Stephen C. Wood, Ravindra K. Agrawal
