  • Publication number: 20100189063
Abstract: Rate matching and rate shaping methods and systems for managing data traffic on wireless channels are disclosed. Rate matching embodiments dynamically determine downlink video data transmission rates based on frame decoding deadlines and frame sizes. In addition, if the channel capacity cannot support the video data transmission rate, the rate matcher can adjust the video stream accordingly so that it is supportable by the channel capacity. In turn, rate shaping implementations can tailor the transmission rate shaping based on the state of the wireless data channel. Shaper operations can be specifically adapted to a saturated state of the wireless channel, to an unsaturated state of the wireless channel and to transitions between the unsaturated and saturated states.

  • Patent number: 7643427
Abstract: A multipath routing architecture for large data transfers is disclosed. The architecture employs an overlay network that provides diverse paths for packets from communicating end hosts to utilize as much capacity as available across multiple paths while ensuring network-wide fair allocation of resources across competing data transfers. A set of transit nodes are interposed between the end-hosts and for each end-to-end connection, a transit node can logically operate as an entry gateway, a relay or exit gateway. Packets from the sender enter the entry node and go to the exit node either directly or through one of a plurality of relay nodes. The exit node delivers the packets to the receiver. A multipath congestion control protocol is executed on the entry node to harness network capacity for large data transfers.

  • Publication number: 20090310783
Abstract: The present invention discloses systems and methods for controlled dissemination of information in mobile networks using encrypted broadcasts that are decrypted at the device. An encryption key is generated corresponding to a particular category or granularity of information. The information is encrypted before it is broadcast to the sector. A user within the sector sends a key request across the network, in response to which the encryption key is sent to the user. The user can decrypt the encrypted information received in the broadcast. Additionally, a credit-checking mechanism may be employed to ensure that the user has sufficient credit to purchase the key. In one embodiment, the information to be disseminated is divided into a plurality of categories, wherein each category corresponds to a granularity of information.
