  • Publication number: 20100029525
Abstract: Disclosed are antiwear hydraulic fluid compositions comprising (a) a major amount of a base oil of lubricating viscosity and (b) a minor amount of at least one oil soluble detergent additive comprising a salt of an alkyl-substituted hydroxybenzoic acid or a sulfurized derivative thereof, wherein said salt is selected from the group consisting of alkali metal salts, alkaline earth metal salts, ammonium salts or substituted ammonium salts, and further wherein said antiwear hydraulic fluid compositions have a Carboxylate Index of greater than levels disclosed herein.

  • Patent number: 7655133
Abstract: An ashless lubricating oil, comprising a base oil having greater than 90 wt % saturates, less than 10 wt % aromatics, a viscosity index greater than 130, low sulfur, and a sequential number of carbon atoms. The lubricating oil has a VI between 155 and 300, greater than 680 minutes in a rotary pressure vessel oxidation test, and a kinematic viscosity at 40° C. from 19.8 to 748 cSt. An ashless paper machine oil, comprising a base oil having a sequential number of carbon atoms, wherein the oil has a defined viscosity index and high oxidation stability. Also, an ashless lubricating oil, comprising a base oil having a viscosity index greater than 150, wherein the base oil is made from a blend of petroleum-based wax and Fischer-Tropsch derived wax.

  • Patent number: 5246072
Abstract: A foam-forming composition comprising a mixture of at least one anionic surfactant and at least one cationic surfactant can effectively form a foam in a variety of formations including an oil-wet environment. In particular, this composition can be employed in a method which comprises at least periodically injecting a gas and this foam-forming composition into an oil-bearing formation to drive oil to a production well. In this composition, the ratio of the at least one anionic surfactant to the at least one cationic surfactant is selected so that the surfactants do not form substantial amounts of precipitate when mixed together. In certain environments, e.g., when the formation contains upwards of 20% total dissolved solids and/or a divalent metal ion concentration up to about 20,000 ppm, the composition can further contain at least one salt-tolerance additive, e.g., a nonionic surfactant.

  • Patent number: 5193618
Abstract: A method for recovering hydrocarbons from a reservoir during gas injection into the reservoir comprises at least periodically injecting a gas comprising steam and a foam-forming composition which includes at least one steam foam diversion surfactant into a reservoir which contains at least one multivalent cation. The foam forming composition comprises water, an effective foam-forming amount of the surfactant which preferably comprises an alkyl aromatic sulfonate and a precipitation control additive. This precipitation-control additive preferably comprises an alpha-olefin sulfonate dimer (AOSD). The method further comprises contacting the hydrocarbons in the resevoir with the foam and the gas so as to assist in the recovery of hydrocarbons from the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4741768
Abstract: Cupric, lithium, and magnesium salts of trans-substituted 2-[1-(3-chloroallyloxyimino)alkylidene]-cyclohexane-1,3-dione and derivatives thereof. The compounds generally exhibit improved stability and enhanced shelf-life while retaining excellent pre-emergence and post-emergence grassy weed phytotoxicity. The compounds are useful as selective herbicides and at low dosages as plant growth regulating agents.
