  • Patent number: 6451170
Abstract: Starch compositions, including cationic crosslinked starches, and methods of using those starches in papermaking are disclosed. In particular, a cationized crosslinked starch and use of the starch in the wet end system of a paper machine is disclosed. The starch compositions of the disclosure are particularly adapted for customization for specific wet end systems, and allow for modification to correspond to variations in the wet end of the papermaking machine.

  • Patent number: 5987801
Abstract: A folding frame apparatus is provided that contains a removable and pivoting rod clamp employed to hold a ice fishing jig rod in the desired position, and is designed in a manner that it can be used with almost all of the ice fishing jig rods on the market today. The frame of the present invention is constructed in a manner that all joints are pivotal by the use of a wing nut assembly, which allows the frame to be opened or closed as desired by the user. The present invention is also equipped with a signal flag assembly which, when a fish takes the bait, causes the flag to move to an upright position and alerts the fisherman to the presence of a fish.

  • Patent number: 5844041
Abstract: A process is described for increasing the viscosity and high humidity curl retention of aqueous solutions of homogeneous copolymers of 20-99% vinyl pyrrolidone (VP) and 1-80% N-3,3-dimethylamino-propyl methacrylamide (DMAPMA). The high viscosity solutions are particularly useful as the active component of hair care products.

  • Patent number: 5253441
Abstract: A listing device is disclosed for recording domestic household items which must be purchased on an ongoing basis and for indicating chores and appointments which must be regularly observed. The listing device includes a planar support sheet and plate displaying an itemized shopping list attached to the sheet. The itemized shopping list comprises items arranged sequentially in two vertical columns. The sheet is attached to one side of a backing. Another support sheet and plate with itemized shopping list may be attached to the other side of the backing and several backings can be retained in a hand-held binder or booklet. A visual indicator, such as a bright color patch is located adjacent to each visually discernable item on the list. A cover tab for covering the color patches are included and are movable between a covering position in which the color patch is covered and an uncovering position in which the visual indicator is uncovered thereby drawing the user's attention to that particular item on the list.

  • Patent number: 4218842
Abstract: An insect trap is provided for use in combination with an open mouthed receptacle such as a conventional canning jar. The insect trap comprises a tubular core member extending a predetermined distance into the receptacle as a passageway for insects such as houseflys, and a cap member into which the core member slides, and in which the core member is snappingly held. The core and cap members each include opposed orifices which, when aligned, permit entry of insects, particularly flying insects, into the receptacle via the passageway. The insect trap also includes a member for suspending the core and cap member assemblage in the receptacle mouth. Also preferably included are guide members associated with the cap and core members so that the orifices in the assemblage are correctly aligned without requiring visual acuity.

  • Patent number: 3956470
Abstract: Pentafluorosulfur hypochlorite, SF.sub.5 OCl, and its preparation by reacting thionyl tetrafluoride, SOF.sub.4, or a salt thereof, with an inorganic reagent containing a chlorine atom in a +1 oxidation state which chlorine atom is attached to a more electronegative element. When SOF.sub.4 is employed, it is necessary to use a catalyst for the reaction selected from the group consisting of LiF, NaF, KF, RbF and CsF. Pentafluorosulfur hypochlorite is useful as a polymerization initiator and is a valuable intermediate for the synthesis of other useful compounds.
