  • Publication number: 20180154961
Abstract: A variable traction device for drifting vehicles that allows the driver to vary the traction of the rear wheels with the road surface by alternating the weight of the drift vehicle between two sets of rear wheels with a substantially different coefficient of friction. The variable traction device includes a set of primary rear wheels, a set of secondary rear wheels, and an actuator lever. The actuator lever is located within reach of the driver and is operatively coupled to raise and lower the secondary rear wheels between a retracted position in which the vehicles weight is on the primary rear wheels and a deployed position in which the vehicles weight is on the secondary rear wheels. By manipulation of the actuator lever, it gives the driver the ability to vary the traction of the rear wheels with the road surface.

  • Patent number: 7441384
Abstract: The invention provides a new floor covering panel and floor covering system in which the floor covering panels include first and second generally planar surfaces, first and second side edges containing first and second complementary coupling members, respectively, and an adhesive composition selectively applied to at least a portion of at least one of the first and second coupling members. The adhesive composition providing the adhesive bond may be applied to at least one of the first or second coupling members during the floor covering manufacturing process. After a floor covering system is assembled, the adhesive composition provides a substantially non-refastenable bond between mated floor covering panels.

  • Patent number: 7308604
Abstract: A media area network includes a storage system having at least one storage device for storing digitized information. A host bus adapter provides a link between the storage system and a host system that provides overall control of the media area network. Within the host bus adapter, a lower-level port driver monitors communications between the storage system and the host bus adapter. In the event of a communications failure, the lower-level port driver initiates switching from a failed port to an alternative port, thereby achieving fail-over recovery. Allocating the responsibility for fail-over recovery to the lower-level port driver assures timely handling of port failures, thereby reducing potential latency delays.

  • Patent number: 6990638
Abstract: A system and method for displaying layered data, such as data with a hierarchical relationship is provided. A flat tree view control is provided that indicates the level corresponding to individual data items without indenting data items. Colors or grayscale shading is applied to each data item to indicate the item's level within the hierarchy. Items within the same level use the same color or shading. When an item is selected by the user it is expanded or collapsed depending on whether the layers below the selected item already appear on the display screen. Additional level indicator values and level indicator bars can be used to further indicate the level of data items. A data item can also be highlighted to indicate a particular attribute corresponding with an individual data item.

  • Patent number: 6850385
Abstract: An apparatus and associated method are disclosed for compensating for repeated servo runout error in a disc drive. The disc drive includes a disc on which servo information is arranged as a plurality of servo fields which define tracks on the disc. An actuator assembly is provided adjacent the disc and includes a head which accesses the servo fields and an actuator motor which moves the head relative to the disc. A servo circuit controls radial location of the head by applying current to the actuator motor in response to the servo information. The repeated servo runout error, caused by errors in the radial location of the servo fields on the disc, is compensated by the servo circuit through the use of compensation values which are stored in compensation fields of the servo fields.

  • Patent number: 5373218
Abstract: A circuit (100) for powering fluorescent lamps (102, 104 & 106) includes a switch (50) having "open" and "closed" positions. When power is initially applied to the circuit, the lamps are powered at full power to enable them to "strike". After a short period, the power is reduced to the lamp. A control circuit (300) thereafter senses if the switch has been "toggled". If toggled, the power to the lamps is increased, and the lamps brighten. The circuit uses a conventional two-position switch and conventional wiring and avoids the need for additional switches and additional wiring.
