  • Patent number: 7149099
Abstract: An apparatus (10) includes a portable electric power storage arrangement (14) and a power panel (18) all mounted in or on a common housing (11) that includes a carrying feature or handle (12) by which the housing may be easily carried. The electrical power storage arrangement (14) provides DC electrical power for the power panel (18) and preferably includes one or more rechargeable batteries. Apparatus (10) further includes an inverter circuit (15) mounted in or on the housing (11) for inverting power from one or more batteries associate with the apparatus to produce a modeler's AC output. The modeler's AC power output comprises an AC power signal that is sufficient to drive an AC powered charging circuit (52) for charging batteries associated with a modeler's transmitter (53) or receiver (54).

  • Patent number: 5123315
Abstract: A device for starting a cutting wire through a material to be cut by the wire includes an elongated starter tube having an opening extending through its entire length. An insertion facilitating arrangement is formed at an insertion end of the elongated starter tube and a force receiving surface is positioned at the end of the starter tube opposite the insertion end. A handle is preferably connected to the starter tube at the end opposite the insertion end and the force receiving surface is preferably formed on the handle. By applying a sufficient force to the force receiving surface the insertion end of the elongated starter tube may pierce the material to be cut and be driven completely through the material to the opposite side. Once the starter tube traverses the material to be cut, one end of the thin and flexible cutting wire may be inserted through the tube opening until it too traverses the material to be cut.

  • Patent number: 4995153
Abstract: A glass cut-out device according to the invention includes a length of cutting or cut-out wire adapted to be held at both ends by gripping devices that form handles for manipulating the wire so as to provide a desired cutting action. Each gripping device includes a first handle piece, a first grip surface formed thereon, and a wire end container adapted to receive one end of the cutting wire so that a portion of the wire near the end extends over a portion of the first grip surface. Each gripping device also includes a second handle piece having a second grip surface formed thereon. A suitable connector is associated with each handle piece and adapted to connect the handle pieces together with the first and second grip surfaces positioned closely together so as to grip at least some of the cutting wire extending over the first grip surface and to hold the end of the wire in the wire end container.

  • Patent number: 4955124
Abstract: A safe means for a cutting mechanism attachable to a remote power source and enclosed within a rigid semi-curved sheath. The sheathed cutting means of the invention is provided with a flexible power transmission means for connection to a remote power source. The flexible power transmission means is comprised of a two-ended blade, one end of which is connected to the power source and the other end of which is capable of acquiring a sharp edge. By means of the rigid slightly curved protective sheath, the blade can be introduced past the dash moldings and garnishings in a vehicle from the inside of the vehicle next to the interior window or windshield so that the cutting blade alone is brought into contact with the polyurethane seal and the seal is quickly and safely severed without breaking the windshield.
