Patent number: 10528026Abstract: An apparatus for orienting a partially coated spherical-object includes a pedestal, a camera, and a controller. The spherical object contains a coating over a portion of a surface. The coating defines a spherical-cap, and the spherical cap defines a polar-axis. The polar-axis is oriented normal to a plane defining a base of the spherical cap, wherein an intersection of the plane and the surface defines a boundary line. The pedestal retains the spherical object and selectively rotates the spherical object about a longitudinal axis of the pedestal. The camera captures an image of the spherical object on the pedestal. The controller is in communication with the pedestal and the camera. The controller is operable to control the rotation of the pedestal, detect the boundary line in the image, and determine when the pedestal has positioned the spherical object to cause the boundary line to have a zero curvature.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2017Date of Patent: January 7, 2020Assignee: DELPHI TECHNOLOGIES IP LIMITEDInventors: Ray Bassett, Joseph F. LaFrance, Thomas Rider

Patent number: 8910918Abstract: Process for closing and cutting into sections a flexible tube, with a cutting element and a pinching closing device for cutting into sections with two cross-sections, each with two parts with indentations that can be placed in removable extension by combination elements and that make a passage with an access, whereby the pinching closing device is in the open or closed state where the cross-sections are closed by locking members and where the surfaces form a pinching closing passage of the tube; the pinching region of the tube is positioned in the indentation of a cross-section; the other cross-section is brought opposite the preceding one and the pinching closing device in the closed state, with cooperation of the locking elements, the tube being positively pinched and closed in two positive pinching zones, and thus held in place; the tube is cut into sections between the parts in the closed state, using the cutting element by passing it into the passage without it interfering with the pinching closing devicType: GrantFiled: November 24, 2009Date of Patent: December 16, 2014Assignee: Sartorius Stedim FMT SASInventors: Isabelle Valerie Christine Gay, Michael Bates, Ray Bassett, Chris Biddel

Patent number: 8863364Abstract: The pinching device includes two cross-sections, each having a hollow part with a male indentation and a female indentation, and locking elements, whereby the surfaces of the indentations form a positive pinching passage of the tube; the male indentation has a U shape with a core and two wings; the female indentation has a U shape with a core and two wings; and the pinching passage has a U shape with a core and two wings; the two opposite wings will draw together toward their ends that are opposite to the cores of the indentations, and each of the two wings of the pinching passage has an opening whose width will diminish towards its end that is opposite to the core of the pinching passage; the width of the opening of the pinching passage is at most slightly smaller than twice the thickness of the wall of the flexible tube to be pinched, and, designed to constitute a pinching closing device, it is disposable, performing a function of closing the tube on itself in the pinching region, preventing any passage ofType: GrantFiled: November 24, 2009Date of Patent: October 21, 2014Assignee: Sartorius Stedim FMT SASInventors: Isabelle Valerie Christine Gay, Michael Bates, Ray Bassett, Chris Biddel

Publication number: 20130196253Abstract: A solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) stack having a glass seal sandwiched between the sealing surfaces of adjacent cassettes, in which at least one cassette includes means for interlocking the glass seal onto the sealing surface of the cassette for improved adhesion and durability of the glass seal. The at least one cassette includes a plurality of perforations configured to receive and lock onto a portion of the glass seal. At least one of the perforations includes a through-hole having an exterior opening on the sealing surface and an interior opening on the interior surface of the cassette. A portion of the glass seal is received in the perforation forming a glass column in the through-hole and a flared glass end on the interior surface surrounding the interior opening. The flared glass end cooperates with the glass column to interlock the glass seal onto the cassette's sealing surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2012Publication date: August 1, 2013Applicant: DELPHI TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: ANTHONY J.
