Abstract: The present disclosure describes a system for providing interactive, treatment-related promotions to, and receiving product orders form, a patient operating a medical measurement device, using the device to facilitate such promotion and product ordering. The system includes a medical measurement device that collects measurement data concerning the physiological condition of the patient. The device receives an invitation from a DME provider's server asking a user of the device if they would like to view a promotion. If the invitation is accepted, the promotion is presented on the device. The device user may be provided the option to purchase the promoted product using the device. A DME server selects the promotion sent to the device based at least in part on the treatment of the patient for which the medical measurement device is used.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes a system for providing bidirectional communication between a patient operating a medical measurement device and a third party, using the device to facilitate such communication. Some examples of the device collect data concerning the physiological condition of the patient. The device transmits the data to a DME server for subsequent transmission to the third party, and also receives treatment-related information from the DME server that is originated by the same or a different third party. The DME server transmits the data received from the device to the third party, if said third party is authorized to receive such data.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes a system for obtaining from a patient, though a medical measurement device provided by a DME provider, regulatory data needed by the provider. Some examples of the device collect and process physiological measurement data used to assess the health of the patient, and allow the provider to present inquiries directed to the patient. Answers by a user of the device to such inquiries are combined with the processed measurement data to produce at least some of the regulatory data needed by the provider. The data allows the provider to demonstrate that both the provider and the patient are complying with Medicare requirements associated with the purchase and use of the device, thus entitling the provider to receive reimbursement for at least part of the cost of the device and any related consumables.
