    Abstract: Improved lint-cleaning cotton gin rollers feature protruding end shafts that may be removed and replaced without having to replace the entire roller, thereby saving considerable time and expense. A pair of hub components are configured for installation into respective open ends of an elongated cylindrical tube, and removeable and replaceable shaft components are configured for installation into the hub components. Each hub component may have a recess with a predetermined shape, and each shaft component has a peripheral shape that corresponds to the shape of each recess. The shafts that extend from the ends of hub components may terminate in a wrench-receiving geometry enabling manual rotation of the assembled roller. Each hub component may comprise at least one flange with an outer diameter that matches the inner diameter of the elongated cylindrical tube. The hub components may be configured to receive counterweights for operational balancing.

    Abstract: A one-handed, forearm-braced paddle has a blade at one end and a forearm brace at the other interconnected by a central shaft portion. The shaft has a rigid control handle that has a base end fixed to the shaft, and, extends from the shaft to a hand grip portion. The hand grip is shaped to allow a user to clench it, and is thereby radially spaced away from the shaft to further allow the user to apply longitudinal leverage on the blade, or else give the user leverage with the application of a twisting torque on the blade. The control handle is furthermore goose-necked shaped and arching away from the forearm brace so that the user's fingers are relatively unimpeded by any of the shaft, blade, or base portions of the control handle.

    Abstract: A device for pulsing the control lines of an HVAC system in order for a user to discover which outside unit is associated with a particular inside unit. Lead wires from the device connect to the control contacts on the thermostat of an HVAC unit. The device is an electrical or electromechanical circuit that can use the power contained within the thermostat or can be battery powered. Once the device is connected, it pulses the control line for the reversing valve, in the case of a heat pump system, or pulses the control line for the compressor, for a cooling-only system. This pulsing creates a loud clicking sound in either case that allows the repair technician to decipher the correct outside unit corresponding to the inside unit without use of a helper.

    Abstract: A process that employs hydrolysis of fats and oils as a pretreatment step to prevent or drastically reduce the formation of glycerin decomposition products that occur in systems that use fixed bed or heterogeneous catalysts for simultaneous trans-esterification and esterification of fats and oils to alkyl esters of fatty acids for use as Biofuels, soaps, detergents, solvents or other applications of fatty acid alkyl esters. The pretreatment step is particularly effective for processes using fixed bed catalytic reactors operating at elevated temperatures and pressures sufficient to cause formation of decomposition products of glycerin which is known to be a problem associated with these processes. The pretreatment hydrolysis step allows the formation, separation and recovery of better quality glycerin by-product and minimizing the formation of glycerin decomposition products in the reactors.
