  • Patent number: 11839350
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, devices, and methods for providing continuous, non-invasive blood pressure monitoring. A wearable monitoring device includes first and second transducer arrays separated by a fixed distance. Each of the transducer arrays includes a plurality of independent transducer elements for transmitting and receiving ultrasound energy. When a user wears the device, the transducers are positioned near the brachial artery. The device operates to measure the transit time of a cardiac pulse through the brachial artery and across the fixed distance between transducer arrays. The measured pulse transit time may then be used for determining pulse wave velocity and/or blood pressure.

  • Publication number: 20230147307
Abstract: Methods and systems for producing a thermite weld include applying a first vibration and a second vibration to molten thermite material within a mold between a first piece and a second piece to be welded. The first vibration includes a first vibration frequency and a first amplitude, and the second vibration includes a second vibration frequency and a second amplitude. The first vibration and the second vibration are applied simultaneously to the molten thermite material until the molten thermite material cools below a liquid-to-solid transition temperature. Interference patterns and harmonics between the first vibration and the second vibration enhance the elimination of gas voids within the molten thermite material and enhance grain refinement in the molten thermite material of the resulting thermite weld without damaging the mold.

  • Patent number: 11277072
Abstract: Multi-phase-shift control of a power converter is provided. The power converter includes a dual-active-bridge (DAB) converter having a transformer, a first H-bridge coupled to the primary winding of the transformer, and a second H-bridge coupled to the secondary winding of the transformer. The DAB converter is operable to generate two-level and three-level voltage waveforms on the primary winding and on the secondary winding to yield a system which ensures zero-voltage switching and unity power factor over a wide range of input and output voltage levels and power throughputs. In a multi-phase shift (MPS) mode of operation, the DAB converter changes from a two-level voltage in at least one of the windings to a three-level voltage in both windings in response to the instantaneous load being below a predetermined level, resulting in more efficient performance of the DAB converter in light load conditions.

  • Publication number: 20200350778
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide wireless control devices that operate in-field wirelessly without removable batteries, have power self-harvesting components, and can be wirelessly programmed over long ranges without interfering with the normal operation of the control devices. Only control devices that have sufficient power available to perform a reprogram cycle (and can function normally until a next power harvest cycle) are selected. Control devices can be selected for wireless reprogramming based on the upcoming functions to be performed by the control device, the amount of energy stored in the control device, the rate of power generation of a solar panel of the control device, and current and upcoming weather conditions, etc. The wireless programming can include updating a firmware of the control device, a bootloader of the control device, and an application program image.
