  • Patent number: 5062489
Abstract: A foldable agricultural implement for use in a towed relationship with a tractor, wherein a pair of outboardly wheeled implement frames or wings carrying around working tools are rotatably and pivotally supported at their inboard ends by a wheeled rear carrier. The implement frames are connected to the rear carrier by ball-and-socket joint assemblies and are pivotally and rotatably connected to a towing means by a twin tongue assembly, adapted so that the work performing means are capable of maneuvering and closely following the contours of a field and folding forward and elevating to provide ground clearance for transport.

  • Patent number: 4790389
Abstract: A field cultivator frame has a number of generally horizontal implement frame sections, each frame section having ground engaging wheels for movable support over the ground. First and second center frame sections are pivotally connected to a prime mover by a hinged draw bar assembly. Front ends of the center frame sections are pivotally connected by a flex link assembly including a connecting bar with ball joint connections at either end. The flex link assembly allows vertical movement of the center frame sections relative to one another, which movement is limited by a plate assembly attached to one of the center frame sections. A swivel joint assembly connects rear parts of the first and second center frame sections for allowing hinged movement of the frame sections relative to one another. A spring-loaded limit assembly connects the first and second center frame sections and includes compression springs for resilient limiting of relative movement of the center frame sections.

  • Patent number: 4236585
Abstract: Two tool-carrying beams extending laterally in opposite directions from the tongue of the frame may be swung fore-and-aft between lateral working positions and folded back transport positions. A collapsible link between the tongue and each beam, respectively, may be held partially collapsed against the tongue to maintain its beam in the operating position, or the link may be released for partial extension to permit the beam to swing back into its transport position. Although the innermost tools of the two beams are disposed in close proximity of one another when the beams are in their widespread working positions, the vertical pivots for the beams are so disposed that the beams can swing through arcs exceeding ninety degrees without causing said innermost tools to strike one another.

  • Patent number: 4173262
Abstract: The depending struts on a tool beam have "floating" bearings at their lowermost ends which can be displaced in a horizontal direction generally parallel to the beam between relatively closely spaced, fixed limits. The bearings in turn journal a disc gang assembly for rotation of the latter during ground engagement, yet the bearings are secured against axial displacement relative to the assembly so that the assembly and the bearings can move together through said displacement between the fixed limits. Adjustment of the struts along the beam during installation until they are positioned between such limits so as to permit displacement in either direction thereby avoids axial pre-loading of the bearings.

  • Patent number: 4066274
Abstract: Tandemly disposed tool beams project laterally outwardly from opposite sides of the central tongue of the implement and may be swung horizontally between laterally widespread, working positions and folded back, compacted, transport positions. Collapsing linkages between the tongue and the front beams control swinging of the latter, while stiff links between the front and rear beams serve to maintain a selected angular relationship between the front and rear beams in the working and transport positions. Outer sections of the front linkages are extensible for adjusting the draft angle of the front beams, while the stiff links are likewise extensible for adjustment of the angle between the front and rear beams.

  • Patent number: 4009554
Abstract: The rear pivot point of a swingable tongue on a towable implement can be shifted laterally with respect to the path of travel of the implement so that the latter can be offset on either side of the towing vehicle without requiring a tongue that is unduly lengthy or subjected to a severe draft angle.
