  • Patent number: 6273043
Abstract: A plate for mounting a rocker arm assembly on an internal combustion engine having hemispherical combustion chambers is disclosed. The plate has a lower surface which mounts to the head of the engine. First and second surface portions are arranged in parallel, spaced apart relation opposite the lower surface. The first and second surface portions provide mounting surfaces for individual rocker arm stands on which the rocker arms are rotatably mounted. The stands are oriented to extend at an angle to the plane of the plate by angularly orienting the first and second surface portions. Mounting the rocker arms in this manner allows them to engage the push rods and valve stems at respective points of contact which remain over the centerlines of the push rods and valve stems and push true along the line of motion of these components. This arrangement eliminates side loads on the push rods and valve stems and results in increased engine performance.

  • Patent number: 5858325
Abstract: A process for the agglomeration of powder or dust of alumina containing material (herein referred to as "alumina powder"), wherein an aqueous slurry of the alumina powder is formed, the slurry containing a sufficient quantity of an inorganic binder comprising a polymer form of a hydroxy salt of aluminum. The slurry is subjected to a spray drying operation to form agglomerated granules of the alumina powder, and the granules then are calcined at an elevated temperature for their consolidation. The alumina containing material comprises Al.sub.2 O.sub.3.nH.sub.2 O, wherein n is in the range of from 0 to 3.

  • Patent number: 5771854
Abstract: An adaptor for mounting a high capacity external oil pump to an original equipment engine block having existing openings for mounting an external oil pump. The adaptor bolts on existing bolt holes in the engine block. Sump oil is routed through the adaptor into the high volume oil pump. The high volume gear pump is driven, through the adaptor, by the previously existing original equipment engine block mechanism and through the previously existing opening provided for driving the original equipment gear pump. The adaptor has openings for accepting dirty sump oil from the engine. Dirty sump oil is directed through a cavity to the intake side of the high capacity gear pump. An oil filter is provided on the gear pump cover. Orifices direct the pressurized oil from the gear pump to the filter. The filtered pressurized oil is returned to the engine by mating orifices in the adaptor, gear pump, and gear pump housing.
