  • Patent number: 4251851
Abstract: The following specification describes a panelboard assembly comprising a plurality of modular insulators each having an integrally formed resilient bead for engaging a circuit breaker housing recess to support a circuit breaker. A tongue on each insulator assists in disengaging the circuit breaker from the bead. Longitudinally extending bus bars are supported by the insulators in heat transmitting relationship to the metal wall of an enclosure. The insulators have long surface paths between adjacent bus bars and bus stabs to prevent electrical leakage. A neutral assembly in close space saving relationship to the bus bars and for convenient wiring is provided together with partition walls between phase bus bars and between individual bus stabs.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 18, 1978
Date of Patent: February 17, 1981
    Assignee: Square D Company
Inventors: Raymond A. Diersing, Wilhelm T. Hackenbroch, George E. Schweikle, Harris I. Stanback

  • Patent number: 3962610
Abstract: A socket for a watt-hour meter is provided with a manual by-pass device to prevent interruption of power to a load when the watt-hour meter is removed from the socket. The manually operable by-pass device comprises a slider having a pair of contact bridges mounted on a body portion of the slider. The slider is mounted on an insulating base of the by-pass device for reciprocable movement. The bar is supported by contact brackets which are connected to line and load terminals of the meter socket, the slider being reciprocably movable to provide selective engagement between the contact brackets and the contact bridges when the watt-hour meter is removed from the socket.
