    Abstract: A method of removing phosphorous impurity in a process for purifying silicon wherein silicon is crystallized from a solvent metal is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of providing a molten body containing silicon, the remainder aluminum and impurities, and treating the body with a source of chlorine to remove phosphorous therefrom.
