Patent number: 11212143Abstract: A method and apparatus for signal equalization are provided. Multiple decision components are arranged in a sequence, beginning with a history portion and ending with a decode portion. Each decision component performs a decode decision on a symbol. Decode decisions are passed forward to other decision components where they can be used to compensate for intersymbol interference. Decode decision output by the history portion are otherwise discarded, while decode decisions output by the decode portion are output as a decoded signal. In the next decode cycle, input previously provided to the decode portion is again provided to the history portion, in a sliding, overlapping block manner.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2020Date of Patent: December 28, 2021Assignee: HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.Inventors: James Raymond Bailey, Mohammad Hossein Shakiba

Patent number: 9956846Abstract: A blower unit for a vehicle heating, venting, and air conditioning (HVAC) unit is disclosed. The blower unit includes a case member that defines at least one exterior air intake aperture and at least one interior air intake aperture. The blower unit also includes a sealing member, a first door, and a second door. The first and second doors can move independent of each other. The first and second doors can be positioned in a mixture position to allow air flow into the blower unit through both the exterior and interior air intake apertures. The first door, in the mixture position, is sealed against the sealing member. As such, the first door and the sealing member cooperate to reduce air flow out of the blower unit through the interior air intake aperture.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2015Date of Patent: May 1, 2018Assignee: DENSO International America, Inc.Inventor: Raymond Bailey

Publication number: 20170272732Abstract: Embodiments herein describe a display device for performing wavelength multiplex visualization (WMV). The display device includes a display screen that includes a plurality of pixels where each pixel contains at least two discrete emitters that generate electromagnetic radiation at a certain wavelength. By controlling the luminance of the respective emitter, the display device sets the color of the pixel. When performing WMV, the display device uses the pixels to generate a left eye display frame and a right eye display frame. Generally, the left eye frame is generated using a different set of wavelengths than the right eye frame. The user can wear special glasses that have interference filters in the lenses which permit only one of the wavelengths to pass through. As a result, each eye of the user sees only one of the display frames, thereby creating the 3D effects.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2016Publication date: September 21, 2017Inventors: Paul Raymond Bailey, Thomas Tracey TAIT, Mark A. Publication number: 20100070198Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for monitoring and reporting the controlled and uncontrolled emissions of hydrogen gas from an end use application such as a hydrogen cooled electrical generator. The system first determines a quantity hydrogen produced by a hydrogen conversion device from a first operating parameter. The quantity of hydrogen released in a controlled manner is determined from a second operating parameter. The amount of uncontrolled hydrogen emissions may then be calculated from the produced hydrogen and controlled release values. A report detailing the type and amounts of hydrogen emissions may then be created.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 19, 2009Publication date: March 18, 2010Applicant: PROTON ENERGY SYSTEMSInventors: A. Patent number: 6760913Abstract: A computer implemented method of defining an object union in an object oriented programming environment, comprising the steps of: selecting a first class from which a first object to be contained in the object union will be instantiated at runtime; selecting a second class from which a second object to be contained in the object union will be instantiated at runtime; selecting a policy function for operating on the first and second classes, at runtime, in order to define which methods supported by the first and second classes will be accessible via the object union at runtime.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2000Date of Patent: July 6, 2004Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Nicholas Raymond Bailey, Robert Harris

Patent number: 6473767Abstract: A file system for a computer supports a plurality of directories, each maintaining a list of data files as a plurality of directory entries. As well as means for creating data entries for real data files, the system includes means for creating anti-file directory entries having an attribute indicating there is no real data file corresponding to the entry. Entries may-be moved between directories and when an anti-file and a data file of the same name are present in the same directory, the real data file is deleted. This enables the synchronization of sets of target and source files to take account of changes.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2000Date of Patent: October 29, 2002Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Nicholas Raymond Bailey, Christopher Derrick Cawthorne, Richard John Gadd, Robert Harris

Patent number: 6473103Abstract: A desktop manager for a multi-processing graphic user interface operating system operates to control the display of a plurality of controls each occupying respective display areas on a desktop. An improved desktop manager characterised by means adapted to receive a request for urgency from a process owning a control; and means adapted to diminish the display of one or more of any other controls to draw the attention of a user to the control owned by the process requesting urgency is disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 1999Date of Patent: October 29, 2002Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Nicholas Raymond Bailey, Richard John Gadd, Robert Harris

Patent number: 5988069Abstract: An airbag initiator having an ignition charge and a low temperature ignition charge in an inner case and a metal header closing the inner case, a glass seal providing feed through of one or more electrical connections to the ignition charge through the header. The seal is preferably formed using glass material. A ceramic base supports the header and their spaced relationship maintained by a single continuous glass seal. The ceramic base and glass seal electrically isolates the header and ignition charge against accidental ignition. The ceramic to glass to metal seal provides protection against leakage of unfiltered gas from the inflator system. A ferromagnetic pressed material is assembled into the ceramic base and it's spaced relationship to the ceramic body and the electrical connections are maintained by a single continuous glass seal.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1996Date of Patent: November 23, 1999Assignee: Universal Propulsion Company, Inc.Inventor: Todd Raymond Bailey

Patent number: 3958166Abstract: Means for controlling the speed of the secondary of a linear motor, particularly the shuttle of a linear motor powered loom, consists of a series of uniformly spaced markings on the secondary and a sensor responsive to the markings and located adjacent to the linear motor primary. The markings cause the sensor to produce an oscillating output, the frequency of which is dependent on the speed of the secondary. A control signal derived from the sensor output is used to turn off the supply of current to the linear motor primary when the secondary is travelling at the required speed.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1974Date of Patent: May 18, 1976Assignee: National Research Development CorporationInventors: Arthur Raymond Bailey, John Peter Edgar
