Abstract: Methods and apparatus of classifying received email are provided. At least one initial desirability scan is performed on a received email. When the received email passes the at least one initial desirability scan, it is determined if the received email comprises one or more browser-interpretable scripts. When the received email comprises one or more browser-interpretable scripts, a secondary desirability scan is performed on the received email as a function of the one or more browser-interpretable scripts. The received email is identified as undesirable email when the received email fails the at least one initial desirability scan, or the received email fails the secondary desirability scan. The received e-mail is identified as desirable email when the received email does not comprise one or more browser-interpretable scripts or the received email passes the secondary desirability scan.

Abstract: This invention provides methods and apparatus for validating that transformations that are expected to occur in an IP network are indeed occurring as expected. Generally, these transformations establish logical communication tunnels within an IP network between the devices that perform the transformation and the devices that perform the reverse transformation. The invention is useful to validate the configuration of devices that support a variety of IP transformation methods, including IP-security protocols using the standard Encrypted Secure Payload protocol and Authenticated Header protocols as defined by the IETF. The invention is particularly useful to validate cases in which transformations occur on the full path of a packet traversing between two machines in an IP network, or when the transformations only occur on part of this path.

Abstract: A policy enabled caching system based upon policy rules which define whether a request from a client is directed to a cache or a server. The client is coupled to a plurality of caches and to at least one server. The caches may store a subset of the data stored on the server. The policy enabled caching system stores policy rules which comprise at least one matching condition, where every request containing a matching condition falls into an associated class. Each class will have an associated routing rule, where a routing rule defines the type of routing for all the requests which fall into that class. The policy enabled caching system will receive the request from the client and classify the request according to the policy rules. The request is then routed according to the routing rule associated with the class to which the request belongs.

Abstract: This invention provides methods and apparatus which provide a solution to the problem of server load balancing. Log files are collected from each server within a server cluster. The log files are analysed by the monitoring process to find file relations. The analysis uses a window to search for requests such that a file relation is established. Other techniques are described to establish file relations. Based on file relations files are merged into groups such that these groups of files can be distributed to N servers within a server cluster. The file merging process continues until there are N groups corresponding to the N servers. The files for each group are either distributed to each server, or all files are distributed to all servers and each server activates only the subset which comprises the group of files for that server.
