  • Patent number: 7354037
Abstract: A stapler is incorporated in a finishing device associated with a document creating apparatus. The stapler has a control circuit with a memory and is driven by a variably powered motor. An end user inputs the job parameter information at the control panel of the document creating apparatus for each different set of documents to be reproduced and stapled. In response thereto, the control panel sends a particular variable start pulse signal to the stapler control circuit. The control circuit senses the duration of the variable start pulse. Based upon the duration of the variable start pulse signal, the control circuit selects the motion control profile to be provided to the stapler motor from the various profiles stored in the memory of the control circuit.

  • Patent number: 7229106
Abstract: In embodiments herein a latch apparatus comprises a striker plate and a latch. The latch comprises a pin that is positioned to contact the inclined surface of the striker plate as the latch moves over the striker plate. The latch also comprises a roller that is positioned to roll over a lip of the striker plate as the latch moves over the striker plate. In addition, an arm is operatively connected to the roller. The arm pivots when the roller moves. The pin locks the arm and prevents the roller from moving when the pin is in the lowered position and the pin allows the arm to pivot and allows the roller to move when the pin is in the raised position.

  • Patent number: 5967507
Abstract: An automatic document handler having a sheet separator-feeder mechanism for separating a sheet from a stack of such sheets and for forward feeding the separated sheet without damage to an image on the sheet. The automatic document handler includes a stacking tray having a surface for supporting a stack of sheets; air knife means positioned opposite the stack of sheets for separating a sheet at an end of the stack of sheets, and a sheet separator-feeder mechanism including a bi-level support plate having vacuum ports. The sheet separator-feeder mechanism is mounted toward the downstream end of the stacking tray relative to a direction of forward sheet movement, and applies a negative air pressure through the vacuum ports in the support plate.

  • Patent number: 5349427
Abstract: A sealed system for collecting and removing waste imaging material from a reproduction apparatus in a waste collection container removably insertable into the reproduction apparatus so that the inlet opening of the container is positioned at discharge outlet of a pneumatic cleaning system, especially, the outlet of a cyclone air/toner separator. The container has a dual mode resilient pneumatic seal surrounding its inlet, and an integral insertion guide member. The cleaning system discharge outlet includes a spring loaded sled member and a flexible pneumatic seal connecting between the sled member and the discharge outlet to allow limited movement of the sled member. The insertion guide member of the container slides on an entrance guide path into compressed superposed engagement with the sled member to form a pneumaticaly-sealed waste material path between the discharge outlet of the reproduction apparatus cleaning system and the interior of the waste container when so inserted.

  • Patent number: 4508329
Abstract: A staple loading arrangement for feeding sticks of staples in a stapler magazine under a constant, uniform force imposed upon a staple follower in the magazine to present individual staples to a stapling position whereat sheets are stapled and including a drive mechanism which will provide this force and a retraction device which when retracting the follower to permit staple loading also conditions the force producing device for another cycle of providing force after staples have been loaded into the magazine.
