    Abstract: The inclusion of a substantially saturated dicarboxylic acid, anhydride or ester substituted with at least one hydrogen and carbon containing group of at least 30 carbon atoms and optionally an acidic C.sub.2 and/or C.sub.3 olefin polymer or copolymer of molecular weight 500 to 30,000 having an acid number from 30 to 300 wt. % of a resin in a resin based hot melt road marking formulation containing aggregate gives a formulation of improved colour and melt viscosity.

  • Novel hydrocarbon resins and their use in adhesives

    Abstract: Hydrogenated hydrocarbon resins from cyclopentadiene and/or substituted cyclopentadiene of softening point below 90.degree. C. and having a (Tg) as from 35 to 70 lower than the softening point with less than 12 wt. % of the resin having a molecular weight above 1000 are particularly useful as tackifiers in pressure sensitive adhesives especially in hydrogenated styrene/butadiene/styrene block copolymer adhesive formulations where their use can obviate the need for plasticizing oil.
