  • Patent number: 5000680
Abstract: A rotary kiln having a material processing drum rotatably supported by a shaft. The shaft is rotatably supported by a bearing structure having a radial bearing and a thrust bearing. A radial bearing aligner and a thrust bearing aligner are provided for, respectively, aligning the radial bearing and the thrust bearing with the shaft of the drum if the shaft moves relative to the radial bearing and the thrust bearing.

  • Patent number: 4648561
Abstract: A grinding mill apparatus is disclosed comprising a grinding mill having a feed end head and a discharge end head and a shell disposed between said heads and secured thereto for rotation with the head. A feed end bearing and a discharge end bearing are provided for supporting the feed end head and the discharge end head for rotation about a generally horizontal axis. The bearings include a bearing element which pivots with the heads with the amount of pivot proportional to the increase or decrease of charge level within the mill. A proximity probe is secured to a stationary surface and aligned with a target which is secured to the bearing. The proximity probe detects changes in gap size between the probe and the target and generates a signal indicating an increase in charge level or a decrease in charge level within the mill.

  • Patent number: 4116391
Abstract: A radially extending scoop is fastened internally to the discharge end wall of a ball mill structure for rotation with the mill; rotation of the mill will cause the grinding media and pulp to cascade and the scoop will fill and direct the material inwardly toward the mill center and discharge it into a conical cylinder in the mill trunnion which directs the discharge into a receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4032199
Abstract: An apparatus for equalizing the radial load on the pivoted bearing pads of a journal bearing which comprises in excess of two pivoted bearing pads, say four or five pivoted bearing pads, for example. The journal bearing includes two bearing pads located in a generally central region relative to the span of the plurality of bearing pads in a circumferential direction, with the corresponding supports for the two bearing pads being radially fixed in position, and with the remaining bearing pads being mounted on supports which are radially adjustable. A mechanical adjusting means is pivoted for separately radially adjusting the support for each of the radially adjustable bearing pads, whereby to correspondingly, radially adjust the corresponding pivoted bearing pads. A separate source of high pressure oil is connected to the interface between each bearing pad and the journal, and a separate hydraulic pressure gauge is provided for each of said interfaces.

  • Patent number: 4019787
Abstract: A method of equalizing the radial load on the pivoted bearing pads of a journal bearing which comprises in excess of two pivoted bearing pads, say four or five pivoted bearing pads, for example. The method may be used, for example, in an arrangement in which two of the bearing pads located in a generally central region relative to the span of the plurality of bearing pads in a circumferential direction are radially fixed in position, with the remaining bearing pads being mounted on supports which are radially adjustable. The supports for the respective radially adjustble bearing pads are radially adjusted until an equalization is reached between the high pressure oil film pressures at the interfaces between all of the respective bearing pads (including the radially fixed bearing pads) and the rotating journal. This equalization of oil film pressures at the respective bearing pad-journal interfaces is indicative that all of the bearing pads are carrying an equal radial load.

  • Patent number: 4010904
Abstract: Reversible rotation grinding mills having a radially compartmentalized discharger with direction and volume control to laterally extending screens so as to obtain a constant "cut" of material or slurry flow to stabilize the volume and size consist of the discharge.

  • Patent number: 3984159
Abstract: An apparatus for equalizing the radical load on the pivoted bearing pads of a journal bearing which comprises in excess of two pivoted bearing pads, say four or five pivoted bearing pads, for example. In a preferred embodiment, the total number of bearing pads is an even number (4, 6, etc.) and the two centrally located bearing pads relative to the span of the plurality of bearing pads in a circumferential direction are radially fixed in position. The remaining bearing pads are mounted on supports which are radially adjustable. A mechanical adjusting means is provided for separately radially adjusting the support for each of the radially adjustable bearing pads. The supports for the respective radially adjustable bearing pads are radially adjusted until an equalization is reached between the high pressure oil film pressures at the interfaces between all of the respective bearing pads (including the radially fixed bearing pads) and the rotating journal.
