  • Publication number: 20100287854
Abstract: A stairway system, kit and method for assembling the kit are provided, the system including pre-fabricated components such as steps, stringers, decorative mouldings and panels or boards, etc., on site. The kit comprises a step module and an adjacent step module, the step module comprising a riser and a tread, the riser being adapted to abut the tread on a first side thereof and being adapted to define a fastener-mating portion on a second side thereof. The tread is adapted to be secured atop the riser on one side thereof. The adjacent step module comprises a riser and a tread, the adjacent step module being adapted to be assembled with the step module by engaging a fastener with the fastener-mating portion of the step module and securing the fastener to the tread of the adjacent step module to secure the two step modules together.

  • Publication number: 20030208971
Abstract: The present staircase includes a permanent framing made of metallic stringers, one of which being typically secured to a half-timbering. Vertically extending step supports are secured along the stringers and each include upper and front flanges adapted to be secured respectively to a tread and to a riser of each step of the staircase. A temporary staircase may be easily obtained with the present kit for use during construction, wherein a number of L-shaped steel step units are laid onto the step supports to form a successive series of alternating risers and treads. Then, these L-shaped steel units can be removed and replaced by finished steps of various configurations. If the staircase has an exposed side, a finishing stringer is provided thereat to conceal the structural metallic stringer.

  • Publication number: 20030093959
Abstract: The present staircase (S′, S″) includes a permanent framing (200, 300) made of metallic stringers (208), one of which being typically secured to a half-timbering (F). Vertically extending step supports (210) are secured along the stringers (208) and each include upper and front flanges (254) adapted to be secured respectively to a tread (204, 304) and to a riser (206, 306) of each step (202, 302) of the staircase (S′, S″). Various support systems, including a corner post (312) and brackets (328, 332, 338) mounted thereto, are provided for supporting various horizontal (226c) and angled (208b, 208d) structural components of the framework (300) of the staircase (S″) when the staircase (S″) is L-shaped or U-shaped thereby including a turn in the staircase with flaring steps (103, 104, 105), and also possibly a landing (110).

  • Patent number: 5713166
Abstract: A staircase of monocoque construction comprises a pair of stringers, a series of successive and alternating treads and risers and nosings which are all made of solid wood or of composite wood such as O.S.B., pyrock, plywood, particle board, etc. At locations where these various components are to be joined, the components define facing grooves with a tapered space being also defined between the components. A gap filling substance, such as a polyester resin reinforced with micro-glass fibers, injected in the large ends of the tapered spaces fills the grooves as well as the tapered spaces and adhesively joins when it hardens the treads and risers one to another in succession, and also adhesively joins the stringers and the nosings to the treads and risers. The hardened resin "welds" the wooden components one to another thereby acting as a welded mechanical key, whereby the assembled structure forms a monocoque staircase. A method is also suggested to produce a monocoque staircase.

  • Patent number: 4888934
Abstract: There is disclosed a beam structure for supporting a floor or roof. The beam is of V-shape cross-section, defining a lower apex and two upstanding side wings formed of wafer boards joined together at the apex by a coating of resin, in which is embedded, between the panels, a continuous tension-resisting cable. Compression-resisting strips are secured to the outside of the panels along their top edges. These strips are also made of wafer boards and serve to receive screws for securing the beam to the underside of the floor or roof.

  • Patent number: 4236864
Abstract: A safety control system for a crane adapted to prevent exceeding the uppermost safe elevation of each articulated section of a boom and the safe swinging limits right and left of the boom, which is also adapted to allow the crane operator to preset the safe limits without tools and without leaving the cab of the crane, and wherein the conventional manual controls are disabled to solely allow the required enabling to bring back the boom in the fully operative range. This safety control system preferably includes an electrical elevation sensor for each of two articulated boom sections, an electrical swinging sensor discriminating between left and right safe swinging limits, a warning device indicating the arrival at a limit, a 3-way solenoid valve to regulate the supply of hydraulic fluid to the boom elevation and swinging actuators, and to the conventional manual controls, and relays to control the energization of the 3-way valve, the warning device, and a brake to stop swinging of the boom.
