  • Patent number: 8262151
Abstract: An elongate mechanical device for vehicles, for absorbing impacts, which includes a profiled or tubular elongate part of polygonal cross section, and an end part mounted at one end of the elongate part, at an angle perpendicular to the axis of the elongate part, and intended for fastening to other elements. In the vicinity of its end, the elongate part includes cutouts, which create adjusted regions or faces, in the vicinity of edges of its cross section, and a rigid fastening is provided between the elongate part and the end part that maintains the adjusted regions in direct contact with the end part, the adjusted regions being dimensioned to withstand compressive loads and a tilting torque during impacts.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 24, 2008
Date of Patent: September 11, 2012
    Assignee: ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Vitry
Inventors: Wilder De Queiroz, Thierry Derchu, Raymond Deslande
  • Patent number: 8047617
Abstract: A flexible axle for motor vehicle has a cross-member (1) connecting two longitudinal arms (2), wherein said cross-member (1) has a closed cross-section, and said cross-member has, at least in a central zone, a substantially trapezoid cross-section (11).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 3, 2005
Date of Patent: November 1, 2011
    Assignee: Auto Chassis International SNC

  • Patent number: 7536765
Abstract: Process for fabricating an axle that includes a cross-member and arms which are assembled to extremities of the cross-member, wherein the process includes forming a cross-member, forming at least one arm, arranging the cross-member and the at least one arm in a fastening position, and fastening together in a rigid manner the cross-member and the at least one arm using a magneto-forming process. Wherein the fastening occurs while the cross-member and the at least one arm are in the fastening position and at least one of the cross-member and the at least one arm include at least one metallic material. This abstract is not intended to define the invention disclosed in the specification, nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

  • Patent number: 4787680
Abstract: The invention relates to a U-shaped semi-rigid axle for a vehicle. The axle comprises a transverse portion pivotally connected to the body of the vehicle and two arms serving to mount stub axles on which the wheels are fixed. It is formed of a one-piece tubular structure, the central region forming the transverse portion (3) being so profiled as to present at least one double-wall flange portion, a bent region (12, 13) being provided at each end of the transverse portion, each bent portion being extended by an arm (14, 15) at the end of which is provided the fixing for the stub axle. The invention also relates to a process for producing the foregoing axle. The axle according to the invention can be used in particular as the back axle assembly of a motor vehicle.
