  • Patent number: 5936625
Abstract: A method of providing a monthly calendar view in a computer system uses either textual information or vertically stacked busy bars. If the textual information is utilized, the textual information includes a start time and a brief description of the event. The textual information is interactive allowing quick and easy additions or editing. If the vertically stacked busy bars are utilized, the bars may each represent a predetermined time frame. The presence of a bar indicates an event is scheduled during that time frame. Whichever method is utilized, an enlarged full text description of the event is directly selectable by placing an icon over the event and selecting the event.

  • Patent number: 5491782
Abstract: The movement of first and second sliders on a user interface of a data processing system is loosely coordinated by way of pusher member. The pusher is coupled to one of the sliders and extends over to the other slider, where it is adapted to contact a side of the other slider. The sliders move independently of each other if the pusher does not contact the other slider, as in for example, the sliders moving apart. If the pusher does contact the other slider, then both sliders become ganged and move in unison.

  • Patent number: 5438660
Abstract: A method and apparatus of the alternately displaying two separate data entry views of an electronic mail object. A first data entry view graphically displays a visual metaphor of at least one sheet of note paper partially overlying an envelope, with only a portion of the envelope visible in the display. A second data entry view graphically displays a visual metaphor of an envelope overlying a portion of at least one sheet of note paper, with only a portion of the sheet of note paper visible in the display. In either view, the overlying displayed sheet of note paper or envelope is active for the entry of message text or destination information, respectively, while the partially displayed envelope or sheet of note paper is inactive to such data entry.

  • Patent number: 5428735
Abstract: A method for maintaining a record of set-creating data processing activities and associated data sets. The method includes the steps of creating and displaying a plurality of visual representations, one for each of the set-creating activities, and arranging the visual representations to indicate a hierarchical relationship within the set-creating activities. The visual representations may be used to select for viewing a particular one of either the set-creating activities or the associated data sets, and displaying them on the data processing system. The display may correspond to a duration of an operator input activity, or to a time interval defined by an initiating operator input at a terminating operator input. In its simplest form, the method requires the arrangement of the visual representations in a hierarchy which corresponds to set-creation chronology.
