Abstract: A wireless communication system receives a registration request transferred by a first wireless communication device associated with a user account. The wireless communication system determines if registration data in the registration request is invalid. If the registration data is invalid, then the wireless communication system determines if a user profile in the first wireless communication device is out-of-date. If the user profile in the first wireless communication device is out-of-date, then the wireless communication system determines if a second wireless communication device is associated with the user account. If a second wireless communication device is associated with the user account, then the wireless communication system transfers an updated user profile for delivery to the second wireless communication device.

Abstract: A method, server, and media are provided for providing parallel multimedia conferences. A multimedia conference server enables a user to participate in several multimedia conferences simultaneously. The server receives a request to establish parallel multimedia conferences from a user. In turn, the server generates a data stream for the content of the each of the multimedia conferences associated with the user. The data stream may include transcriptions and notifications for the user. The multimedia conference server transmits the data stream and notifications to the user.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a physical overlay that can be secured to a mobile device and that covers at least a portion of the mobile device's user interface. The overlay includes a front portion that has input areas, which may be openings or physical keys. The mobile device detects or is told that the overlay is installed, and the mobile device receives configuration data associated with the overly that tells the mobile device the locations of the input areas on the overlay so that the user interface can be adjusted accordingly. The overlay also includes side portions that allow the overlay to be secured to the mobile device.

Abstract: A wireless communication device communicates with a data network in response to data access operations generated by a plurality of applications operating within the wireless communication device. The wireless communication device displays a plurality of framed icons based on icons individually associated with each of the applications and monitors the applications to determine a frequency and data throughput for the data access operations on a per-application basis. The wireless communication device processes the frequency to select numeric indicators on a per-application basis, processes the data throughput to select frame colors on a per-application basis, and directs the wireless communication device to display the framed icons with the selected frame colors and with bubbles having the numeric indicators.

Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for identifying participants of video conference sessions. One embodiment of the method includes receiving enhanced video content that identifies one or more participants at a particular location of a video conference session. Each participant may be associated with a mobile device. Video conference participants are identified based on wireless communications from the mobile device, which has an electronic module, that is associated with the corresponding participant. The enhanced video content is displayed on a display screen. Such enhanced video content includes video content captured by a video camera that is aggregated with participant data that provides an indication of at least one participant.

Abstract: When a failure notification is received that was transmitted from a service node indicating a failure of a wireless communication device to pass an authentication when attempting to register with a communication network, device information, network data, and a user profile associated with the wireless communication device is retrieved and processed to generate a network access score for the wireless communication device. If the network access score exceeds a priority threshold, a priority notification is transferred instructing the service node to bypass the authentication for the wireless communication device. If the network access score exceeds a legitimate user threshold but does not exceed the priority threshold, an access notification is transferred instructing the service node to bypass the authentication for the wireless communication device, and subsequent usage of the wireless communication device is monitored for fraudulent activity.

Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for improving communication between a mobile device and a wireless network in embodiment of the invention. Based in part on expected locations for a mobile device and network availability, predictions can be made regarding the future quality of service available for the mobile device. This prediction can allow actions to be taken to mitigate any change in the quality of service.

Abstract: Ways of allocating an identifier to a mobile device are disclosed. One method includes receiving a request that requests an address be assigned to the mobile device, considering factors in connection with determining a mobile IP (MIP) address to be assigned to the mobile device, determining the MIP address based on the factors, and conveying the MIP address to the mobile device.

Abstract: A system and method of searching data stored on a wireless device is provided. Using a search request to search data stored on a wireless device which is received at a first processing node from a second processing node, the first processing node performs a search of the data stored on the wireless device. Search results are generated at the first processing node based on the search, and the search results are provided from the first processing node to the second processing node.

Abstract: An overlay secured to a mobile device and positioned over a portion of a touch-activated user interface on the mobile device functions as a guide and includes input areas that indicate locations of input touch regions on the user interface. Based on an identity of the overlay, configuration data is accessed that corresponds to that particular overlay. The configuration data defines locations of the input areas and enables the input touch regions to be mapped for that particular overlay.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer media are provided for preserving network address translation (NAT) state for a wireless device across wireless sessions. In response to a state preservation request received during a first wireless session, a device account is created for the wireless device, the account storing NAT state that defines approved content providers from whom inbound data traffic is permitted for the wireless device. Upon determining that the first wireless session has ended and that the wireless device has established a second wireless session, the stored NAT state for the wireless device is activated such that the NAT state of the first wireless session is preserved for the second wireless session. New unsolicited data traffic from approved content providers received during the second wireless session is subsequently permitted and forwarded to the wireless device.

The method includes, in the wireless communication device, optically receiving image data. The method also includes processing the image data to display a configuration interface, and receiving an instruction into the configuration interface to reconfigure the wireless communication device.

Abstract: A method for identifying a client application installed on a mobile communications device. The method includes monitoring mobile network traffic associated with the web-enabled application. A service profile is developed corresponding to the client application, where the service profile includes information about the client application. A client identity is associated with the service profile. An access request, generated by the mobile communications device, is received from a mobile access gateway (MAG), where the access request includes a request to access application content from a content provider. A determination is made whether the access request includes information reflected in the service profile. In response to determining that the access request includes information reflected in the service profile, the client identity is provided to the MAG.

Abstract: Systems and media are provided for authenticating a mobile device using credentials supplied by a network rather than using a credential configured in the mobile device. As the mobile device requests access to the Internet, an AUD request is sent to an AUD service based on the generic credential in the mobile device. The AUD service generates a user-specific credential for the mobile that enables authentication by an authentication server and subsequent registration at a registration server.

Abstract: A wireless communication system broadcasts using Frequency Modulation (FM) in a Very High Frequency (VHF) band. In the system, base stations exchange wireless communications with user devices including user media requests and the requested media. A control system processes the user media requests to identify media streams for individual base stations. The individual base stations wirelessly broadcast the media streams identified by the control system using FM in the VHF band. The base stations wirelessly notify the user devices of the media stream FM broadcasts.

Abstract: A roaming management computer system comprises a communication interface and a processing system. The communication interface is configured to receive loading thresholds and usage information for each of a plurality of different wireless networks. The processing system is configured to process the loading thresholds and the usage information to determine load balancing requirements for the wireless networks, and process the load balancing requirements to generate preferred roaming lists for wireless communication devices roaming in the wireless networks. The communication interface is further configured to transfer the preferred roaming lists for delivery to the wireless communication devices.

Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for determining whether to allow a position-determining system to provide location information that describes a location of a mobile device. A series of steps are carried out in which information is exchanged between networked components. In an embodiment, a request for location information (e.g., map coordinates) is received together with contextual information (e.g., identification of a mobile device and identification of a requesting party). A set of rules, such as approved contextual information, is referenced to determine if the contextual information is permissible. Upon determining that the contextual information is permissible, the position-determining system is allowed to provide location information.

Abstract: Computer-readable media and methods are provided for identifying a mobile device as a legitimate subscriber to a communications network or as a clone device. A clone device is not legitimately subscribed to the network but poses as a legitimate device to gain usage of the legitimate mobile device's subscribed services. An application on the legitimate mobile device tracks call detail data for calls of the mobile device. The mobile device has a unique identifier. A network server compares the tracked call detail data against a master list of call detail data for the unique identifier. A mismatch between the mobile device's call detail data and the master list indicates a potential clone. A mobile device using the unique identifier but not providing substantially matching call detail data is identified as a clone. Countermeasures are provided to defeat the clone's usage of the network.

Abstract: A method of activating an application test mode on a mobile device is provided. The method includes receiving a message addressed to the mobile device. Upon receiving the message, and prior to sending the message to the mobile device, a determination is made as to whether the message contains a test-mode instruction for the mobile device to activate a test mode. When the message contains the test-mode instruction, then prior to sending the message to the mobile device, the message is modified to include destination information of a network component to which a confirmation message indicating the test mode is activated on the mobile device should be sent. The message is sent to the mobile device.
